MICHIGAN/MIDWEST CALLS
Arts Council of Greater Lansing announces the return of Arts Night Out on August 13, 2021, from 5-8 p.m. in Old Town. Artists who are interested in participating and would like help being connected to an Old Town business are invited to fill out our participation form. If you have a business that you know you would like to collaborate with for Arts Night Out, you can reach out to them directly or let us know if you would like us to make an introduction and connect you! YouShine Events & Consulting LLC is coordinating a mini-makers market for Lansing 5:01's The Dam Jam being held on July 15-17. Space is limited and fee is $50. If you would like to participate, email Najeema Iman at youshineventsconsulting@gmail.com.

Swartz Creek announces a call to artists for its 12th annual "Art in the Park" juried art and fine craft show on Aug. 28, 2021, at Elms Park. The general criteria for acceptance are that the artwork must be the applicant's original design, be created by the applicant and have artistic merit. Chosen artists receive a 12'x12' booth, promotion, artist hospitality booth and more. Nearly $200 in prizes will be awarded. Application deadline is Aug. 28, 2021. Learn more.

Grosse Point Artists Association announces a call to artists for "Have Your Say," an exhibition to be held in the exhibit space at The War Memorial. Now that there is a 24-hour news cycle, there is a constant flood of information. For this exhibition, artists are asked to cut through the noise and give us their thoughts on the topic of their choice. You can get up on a soapbox or whisper. Just be willing to share. Submitted images must reasonably show the nature and quality of the original art piece. Art pieces should be evenly lit without reflections when photographed. Submitted image must be a jpg file that is at least 600x600 pixels. Application deadline is July 19, 2021. Learn more.

Expression Studio announces a call to artists for their fifth annual "Her Voice" exhibition. “Her Voice" is an exhibition of women paper and print artists and their friends. The event brings women from different art backgrounds together to exhibit in a shared gallery space. Eligible entries include two-dimensional unframed work that can be hung on a wall such as painting, drawing, collage, prints, fibers, photography, etc. and no larger than 18”x24.” Application deadline is July 23, 2021. NATIONAL/INTERNATIONAL CALLS
Price Sculpture Forest in Coupeville, Washington announces an RFP/RFQ for sculptures to be exhibited in the park along two themed areas, "Nature Nurtured," and "Whimsy Way," each with their own devoted walking-trail loop. The park will provide artists with excellent public exposure in a beautiful setting. They offer early phase participants of one hundred percent of their sales proceeds with no commission, to encourage inclusion of artist's best work and to support the artists. They are also offering early participants the opportunity to personally choose the best locations within the park where they would best like to present their sculpture to the public. Marketing of the artists and their work will be provided, and there is no jury entry fee. Application is ongoing. Learn more.

Art Show International announces a call to artists and artist grants. One of the leading contemporary art galleries announces their Annual Art Competitions, Solo Exhibition and Artist Grants. All mediums accepted. This is a remarkable opportunity to show and sell your art on some of the largest art platforms in the world, like Artsy and ArtNet. Up to $28,500 in cash prizes annually. Each month, up to $2,000 cash prizes given to up to 40 artists in two juried contests. The submission deadline for the solo exhibition will normally be the last day of each month. However, if enough entries are not received during a particular month, a rolling submission deadline may be set. In this case, these entries will be considered alongside following month's entries. Springboard for the Arts presents unit six of "Work of Art," a professional development curriculum designed to teach business skills to artists in all disciplines — visual, performing and literary arts. "Work of Art: Pricing," looks at a variety of aspects around pricing your work. This analytical approach isn’t intended to be the only way to price your work. It’s intended to show you the factors of product production that apply to everything in the marketplace. Once you understand what each of the variables are, you’ll be able to customize a formula that fits your business model. This event takes place on July 20, 2021, 7:30 – 10:00 p.m. EST. Register now.

City of East Lansing announces a ceramics instructor position. Qualifications include prior experience in teaching methods and practices of ceramics; extensive knowledge of clay and clay preparation; knowledge of wheel thrown pottery process; knowledge of proper loading, unloading and operations of kilns; ability to work and communicate with all ages and more. The ceramics instructor will be under the direct supervision of the recreation & arts coordinator and will work collaboratively with other art instructors to deliver a comprehensive art curriculum. The MSU Museum is seeking candidates for its “Excellence in Museum Practice Internship” positions. This program offers opportunities for students to explore different careers in museums and gain professional experience.
Potential candidates should have an interest in museums, should be able to work collaboratively and independently as well as take direction and should be prepared to interact with museum visitors (including the general public, MSU faculty and students, and/or PreK-12 audiences) and museum staff. The "Excellence in Museum Practice Internship" is open to sophomore, junior and senior MSU undergraduates. Applications will be accepted through August 15, 2021, for the Fall 2021 internship. Need a Piano?
Want to offer a music component to your organization? Need a piano to liven things up? One of our community members is moving out of state and wants to donate this lovely Lakeside Chicago piano (serial number 58519) to a member organization or individual member. It needs a tune-up, but otherwise is in excellent condition. Interested party will be responsible for moving the piano, which is currently located in a local Lansing-area home. Your $500 a month rent includes utilities and internet, free parking and 24-hour access. Lease is on a month-to-month basis with 30-day notice of moving.
