This annual
Rhythm & Roots Festival takes place this weekend with acts on 4 stages from Friday(9/2) through Sunday(9/4) at
Ninigret Park in Charlestown. Acts include
Bruce Hornsby & The Noisemakers, The
David Grisman Sextet and Duke Robillard. I'm especially looking forward to Donna the Buffalo, Taj Mahal Trio and Lucinda Williams on Saturday, see you there!
The
Shops at Long Wharf host free outdoor concerts this month including
Abbey Rhode on 9/5,
*Becky Chase Band on 9/10, Ramos & Phillips on 9/12 and InTandem on 9/26-- all shows are from 1pm-5pm.

Fence Music welcomes back perennial favorite
Cheryl Wheeler on 9/17, with
Seamus Galligan opening.
The
Narrow's Center for the Arts has a very busy month starting with an
Opening Act Contest on 9/8 followed by their
15th Annual Festival of the Arts on 9/11. This year's lineup includes

Paul Cebar and Tomorrow Sound,
Alexi Suter Band,
Roy Sludge,
Ghosts of Paul Revere,
Butch McCarthy,
TJ's Music All -Stars as well as children's activities, food and craft vendors. Later this month

You can easily run 2 fun 5Ks this weekend! On 9/3 enjoy the
Fort Taber Sunset 5K and work up a thirst at the
8th Annual Finish for A Guiness 5K on 9/4. On 9/11- in keeping with our dash and drink theme- T
he Wine Run at Newport Vineyards features a scenic course (less than 4 miles) along Aquidneck Land Trust's Greenway Trail and trough the Vineyards. This race is followed by a wine tasting and BBQ with live music. On 9/24, choose to run either 1/2 marathon
or a 5K course on the winding roads of Conanicut Island in the
Jamestown Rhode Race. For 2-wheelers,
StarRide 16 ( 3 - 45 mile courses) is set for 9/11, The
Four Bridges Ride (26 miles) rolls on 9/24 and The
8th Annual Tour de Newport (10, 25 and 45 mile courses) will be held on 9/25.
