GRIT Grants Coming Soon
We are beyond excited to announce our Gaining Recovery in Transition (GRIT) Grants, which will be opening in a few days! We are busy putting a few final touches on this amazing program that will be available to both artists and nonprofit arts organizations in the Greater Lansing Region. We have $200,000 in recovery funds to grant out to all of you in support of your work as creators and organizers in the arts. Be on the lookout for an announcement coming to your inbox very soon! The Greater Brighton Area Chamber of Commerce invites submissions from artists and fine crafters in all media and categories for the Brighton Art and Music Festival held in Brighton, Michigan. Deadline: May 1, 2022.

LowellArts is seeking proposals for its 2023/2024 exhibitions.
Artists, curators, artist groups and instructors are encouraged to submit a proposal for an exhibition at LowellArts between the winter of 2023 and fall of 2024. Approximately 6-8 exhibitions slots are available. Deadline: May 1, 2022.

Kellogg Community College is seeking sculptures to install and display at the North Avenue campus in Battle Creek, Michigan, as part of the 3rd Biennial Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition. Selected artists will be awarded a $750 stipend for general project expenses. Selected sculptures will be on display for public viewing on campus for 24 months, with the possibility for extended installation or purchase. Deadline: May 1,2022.

The Kenosha Community Foundation Arts Fund in Kenosha, Wisconsin, is seeking outdoor sculptures for their "2022-2024 Sculpture Walk - HarborPark Exhibition," on the grounds of HarborPark area located on Lake Michigan. Installation of works is anticipated for September 2022. Special consideration will be given to life size and/or monumental sculptures. No application fee. Deadline: May 2, 2022.

SOS Art seeks entries for its juried art exhibition, "USA Miniprints for Peace and Justice," to be held June 24 - July 10, 2022, at the Art Academy of Cincinnati. Only traditional printmaking techniques (no digital) will be accepted, size must be 6 in x 6 in image centered on a 10 in x 10 in paper. Artist may submit up to three different miniprints, must be created within the past five years. No entry fee. Deadline: June 5, 2022. 

The Fremont Chamber of Commerce seeks artists and crafters for the Fremont Music Fest, June 24, 2022, 4:00 - 9:30 p.m. and June 25, 2022, 12:00 - 10:00 p.m. on Fremont Road, Fremont, Indiana. They welcome all crafters, including painters, stained glass artists, potters, wood workers, glassblowers, jewelry makers, etc. Artists provide their own table, chairs, canopy, etc. $25 fee. Email or call 260-495-5225. Deadline: June 10, 2022.

The Dairy Barn Arts Center with support from Ohio University School of Visual Communication seeks entries for the third biennial international exhibition, "WideOpen: Excellence in Photography." This exhibition has featured outstanding work by established, emerging and amateur photographers. Each accepted photo will be featured in the "WideOpen: Excellence in Photography" 2022 exhibition catalog. Deadline: June 30, 2022.

Arts Council Greater Lansing presents the Ingham County Hotel/Motel Funds for Arts & Tourism Grant Workshop. Join membership and program manager Taylor Haslett who will introduce the 2022 Ingham County Hotel/ Motel Grant, go over changes, guidelines, applications and deadlines and open the floor for Q&A from attendees. Give it a read if you are up for a bit of a chuckle! Excerpt: "But no one offers alternatives to jargon. And it is my philosophy to never offer a critique without offering potential solutions, unless I’m lazy. So I made up new jargon that you can use as alternatives. Try them out. Hopefully, these new clichés will catch on so that we can make charts to complain about them later..." Enjoy a chortle (or snortle).

The "Small Business Boost Program" is offered by City of Lansing Office of Financial Empowerment in partnership with Cristo Rey Financial Empowerment Center and LEAP.

The specialized financial counseling program helps participants:

  • Negotiate lower payments on debts
  • Apply for income-based student loan repayments
  • Provide avenues to improve access to credit
  • Improve personal finances

Trained, professional financial counselors will work with you one-on-one to help you achieve your financial goals.

The program spans from March of 2022 to March of 2023.

Upon completing each counseling session, participants' names are entered in a drawing to win a $500 gift card. The more sessions you attend, the better your chances of achieving your financial goals and a gift card! Get your boost!
