august 2023

Dear Marlo,

What a weird August it's been; from muggy heat to fall-like chills and everything in-between. We're hoping we've got some more summer left in 2023...but fortunately everything in this issue of marlo monthly works whatever the weather!

As a marlo monthly reader you obvs already know that our clients are one-of-a-kind, and unique clients deserve a kick-ass team who gets sh*t done. So I interrupt our regularly scheduled newsletter programming to shill for some new talent (downsizing is so 2020). As the long tenures, slingshot staff, accolades, and lasting friendships may indicate, we have a life-changing opp for someone with killer talent; if you or anyone you know is seeking a new PR, Creative/Graphic Design, or Digital Marketing role, both full or part-time, don't be shy - hit us up at careers@marlomarketing.com.

steak 'n shake

As summer sings its swan song, we set our sights on all things fall: school in sesh, pumpkin spice everything, and of course, tailgate szn. Thankfully, getting back into the swing of hosting seasonal sports-watching soirées couldn’t possibly be easier this year thanks to our fave midwestern crowd-pleaser, Steak ‘n Shake.

To make entertaining a breeze, their new Burger Box comes with 10 classic Double Steakburgers with Cheese, along with all the fixings: lettuce, pickles, and onions...oh my! Score extra points by adding bacon, fried onions, fries and, of course, a milkshake or two for dessert (we’re looking at you, OREO® Cookies 'n Cream!).

That’s right, a quick visit to steaknshake.com could very well be your ticket to being the next MVPP. Most Valuable Party Planner, of course!

franklin park zoo

There are BIG things happening at Boston’s Franklin Park Zoo. First up is the addition of Boston’s tallest and biggest baby: a new Masai giraffe. Standing 6' tall and weighing 184 lbs (seriously, mom Amari deserves an award for that!), the new baby is now out on exhibit several days a week, giving all of us the opp to bask in the glory of this gentle giant. The best part? Franklin Park Zoo is giving YOU the ability to name the new calf with an online silent auction, ending August 27. All proceeds go directly to the care of the animals at the Zoo, making it fun AND for a good cause (nothing we love more than that).

And speaking of big things, guests can once again ‘get glowing’ at Franklin Park Zoo with huge, all-new lanterns as part of the return of Boston Lights: A Lantern Festival. Now in its fourth year, this year’s show offers a MASSIVE 197-foot-long display featuring pagodas, cranes, lotuses and flowers, as well as an 82-foot-long walk-through dragon tunnel. Frozen fans will love the new icy mystical land complete with an ice-breathing dragon, and guests can even journey to ancient Egypt to see the pyramids, or dive under the sea to discover marine life from Down Under. Open now through October 29, you won’t want to miss the biggest AND the brightest event of the year!
