Where oh where did summer go?! We're crushed, too, but we can't help ourselves from looking forward to all things fall...like being excited again for indoor pools, book clubs and drinking something other than the summer version of #basic,  rosé. Oh yeah, and Detroit (sorry, couldn't help myself!).

So curl up with a #PSL (aka, the #basic of choice for fall), and read on. We think you'll come around, too!

gem & bolt
We've all heard legendary tales of Greek gods and goddesses, mythical creatures and the earth's formation, but no lore captures our interest more than the creation of the trendy agave-based spirit, mezcal. It goes a little something like this: long ago in ancient Mexico, a lightning bolt struck the heart -- or gem -- of the agave plant, roasting and fermenting its sugars and releasing its sacred sap, uncovering what's known today as mezcal.

Much, much later came GEM&BOLT, an artisanal mezcal distilled with super herb (and ancient aphrodisiac) damiana. Created by alchemist/artist duo, AdrinAdrina and Elliot t Coon, GEM&BOLT is distilled in Oaxaca, Mexico, with only fair-trade, organic and sustainable espad ín agave and fresh mountain spring water. The refined spirit was inspired by the pair's bohemian upbringing, from which they learned about the healing powers of plants and conscious celebration.

So as the summer heat winds down, channel your inner mythological spirit animal and raise a glass of GEM&BOLT -- we guarantee that after just one sip you'll agree that it's the stuff of legends!

the row
Home to the first-ever flag raising, Marshmallow Fluff and The Museum of Bad Art (yes, it exists), Somerville's vibrant culture and proximity to Boston has made it one of the most sought-after areas for visitors and locals alike. With the recent addition of trendy urban neighborhood Assembly Row, Boston's neighbor to the north has become even more desirable. Now anchoring said trendy neighborhood, smack-dab on the spot where an automotive assembly once thrived: The Row Hotel at Assembly Row, The Autograph Collection.

Paying homage to the ingenuity of America's Industrial Revolution, The Row incorporates bold manufacturing elements while maintaining the polished sophistication of a city-chic hotel. In addition to The Row's 158 spacious guest rooms, modern fitness center, on-site restaurant and copious meeting spaces, we're particularly enamored by the indoor pool which features luxe, semi-private cabanas and an adjacent outdoor terrace perfect for basking in the late summer sun. In the lobby, artist Feliciano Bejar's "Magiscopes," whimsical sculptures made of glass prisms and lenses atop reclaimed automotive parts, charm and delight -- and are all the more entrancing after a tipple or two from Reflections, the lobby lounge.

Whether you're in town for business in Boston, the soon-to-be casino in Everett, or the quirky culture of "Camberville," The Row is your new respite and spot to see and be seen in Somerville. #MeetYouAtTheRow

boston book festival
Picture this: it's a rainy Sunday afternoon, you're curled up on the couch with a cashmere throw and a generous pour of Pinot Noir. You hear the spine crack as you open your brand-new hardcover book, fan the freshly printed pages between your fingers, and ingest that "new book smell." For a couple of quiet hours, all is right with the world.

It's true, books have a way of allowing us to escape reality -- even for a short time -- and if you ask us, that's well worth celebrating. Now in its 10th year, the Boston Book Festival honors the power of the written word each fall, hosting literary luminaries representing a range of genres including history, fiction, public affairs and children's lit. On the agenda is an impressive list of keynotes and presenters, including: Pulitzer Prize-winning author, Doris Kearns Goodwin, New York Times bestselling author, Steven Pinker, and Oprah's Book Club selection author, Tayari Jones. The BBF will kick off with the inaugural #BBFBookHunt, where the fest's social media followers are challenged to find books hidden around the city.

While some things in life are inescapable (paying bills, going to the dentist and visiting pestering in-laws), we rejoice in the fact that, every so often, we can delve into a good book and let everything else fade away.
