Greetings!
It's that crazy week between Christmas and New Year, where time and space blur unlike at any other time during the year. Between returning gifts and catching up on sleep, we're taking advantage of this lull to continue spending time with friends and family. And this issue of marlo monthly is packed with ideas on how to do just that! From seeing ALL the holiday blockbusters to holiday aperitivo to perhaps the biggest news this month -- the reopening of the restaurant that first introduced the visionaries behind COJE to the Boston restaurant scene -- we've got enough to keep you busy...at least through the rest of 2022!
If you're looking for us this weekend, we'll be at Lolita Back Bay, Diablo in hand, raising a toast to all we have to be grateful for in 2022 and looking ahead to all that's headed our way in 2023. From all of us at marlo, wishing you and yours a happy and healthy everything!

Freshly popped buttery popcorn? Check. Comfy power recliners? Check. A full bar with hand-crafted cocktails on tap, premium spirits, and a selection of local craft beers? Check, check, check! If all of this sounds as good to you as it does to us, you'll want to head to the brand new Showcase Cinema de Lux Hanover Crossing for the absolute best movie-going experience on Boston's South Shore.
Part of the new Hanover Crossing mixed-use development, the newly built cinema features eight auditoriums, including an XPlus Laser Premium Large Format auditorium (think crystal-clear laser projection, immersive sound, and a HUGE screen you've got to see to believe), along with a custom-designed lobby bar and lounge, and a state-of-the-art concession stand and box office. As an added bonus, to show some local love, all beers on tap are from local South Shore breweries -- Untold Brewing, Mayflower Brewing Company, Barrel House Z, Burke's Aleworks, amongst others -- and the hand-rolled pretzels, made fresh daily on-site, are legit To.Die.For.
With great new films currently in theatres -- including "Avatar: The Way of Water," "I Wanna Dance with Somebody," and the family-friendly "Puss in Boots," there's never been a better time for everyone to get their movie on!

Dimly lit rooms, hidden nooks, vaulted ceilings, custom cast-iron chandeliers, and an exceptional menu of inspired Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Yep, we're talking about the original femme fatale of the neighborhood, Lolita Cocina & Tequila Bar, who has re-opened her doors on the corner of Dartmouth and Newbury Streets with a revamped space but the same sultry and seductive vibe, beckoning diners once again.
A revolutionary addition to the Boston dining scene when it first opened in Back Bay in 2010 thanks to its "dining as experience" vibe that inspired a generation of restaurant owners and restaurant-goers alike, the space suffered a ruinous flood during the pandemic so the COJE Management team took advantage of the time to make repairs while extending outward into the space formerly occupied by Ball & Buck, adding over 2,000 square feet to the hands down sexiest space in Boston.
So, if you're looking to cut loose amid all that wholesome holiday family time this month, come on by for a night you won't soon forget. Just remember the cardinal rule: what happens at Lolita stays at Lolita.
