Greetings!

The world feels very different from when I penned this intro for January's issue a little more than one month ago. Covid seems to be on the wane, with the end to cold weather not far behind. To get us through the remainder of winter, in this issue of marlo monthly we bring you: chocolate. And not just chocolate, but FREE CHOCOLATE at the Back Bay's brand new Cafe Landwer. Read on for how to redeem!

In other sweet news, a huge shout out to longtime agency client and friend, Chef Tom Berry, for kicking Bobby Flay's ass on Beat Bobby Flay last week! Check out the episode on Food Network and then head over to Coquette to try his winning dish, Merda de Can. Trust me, they certainly don't taste like their translation from French (google it!) -- the judges clearly agreed!

And last but not least, sharing one more shameless plug of our 2021 creative work. We appreciate (and are eternally grateful for) any referrals you may have to send our way. Speaking of referrals, like seemingly every employer in the U.S., we're hiring to grow our team; thanks for helping to spread the word to anyone you think may be a fit!
'gansett
"Hi Neighbor! Have a 'Gansett!" Yep, our friends at Narragansett Beer have been saying it best for decades. For them, “Hi Neighbor” isn’t just a greeting -- it’s a testament to the kind of person you are and a recognition of the Rhode Island community they’re proud to call home.

On March 5th, gather up your favorite neighbors and stop by the Providence brewery to toast to the small but mighty state at their “Ultimate Rhode Island Day” event. Kicking off the inaugural Rhode Island Craft Beer Week -- a celebration of excellence in brewing across the Ocean State -- ‘Gansett will launch their newest draft alongside snacks and noshes from other iconic Rhody staples like Olneyville Hot Wieners and Autocrat Coffee Milk.

And if a week of craft beer isn’t enough, ‘Gansett will be cranking out new brews all month long like the historically inspired 1822 Porter (a partnership with the Rhode Island Historical Society) and the yes-beer-can-be-considered-juicy Blueberry Pomegranate Smartin’ Sour. We highly suggest making your way to the brewery to try one (or all) on draft or, even better, pick up some cans and share with your neighbors -- you know, the 'Gansett way!

bakey
If you live in Boston, you've heard of Bakey. And if you've heard of Bakey you've definitely heard of Uri Scheft's crazy addictive offerings like decadent Chocolate Babka, perfectly-formed Challah Bagels, and savory Spinach & Cheese Burekas. You probably even know that Bakey's tagline -- Ovens Always On -- means that they're literally baking all day long to deliver that fresh-from-the-oven bakery experience during Every. Single. Visit. Now there's even more reason to stop in, with the addition of several new equally mouthwatering treats to their already over-the-top menu:

  • Chocolate-Covered Babka: the original, dipped in chocolate. 'Nuff said!
  • Chocolate Birthday Cake: a party in and of itself
  • Flourless Chocolate Coconut Cake: 24" of pure heaven for those GF folks (we got you!)
  • Vegan Chocolate & Cinnamon Babka: Yep, now animal and dairy-free

So if you haven’t checked it out yet because, you know, who goes into the city anymore…trust us when we tell you it’s worth the trip. And if getting out of your PJ bottoms and Zoom-ready top is simply too much, order online for delivery or catering right from their website. You’ll be happy you did…your scale, however, maybe not so much!

cafe landwer
If, like many of us, you've been holed up since December (thanks, Omicron), there's no shame in your falling behind in the "knowing the best new restaurants in town" game, so let us bring you up to speed on one of the most exciting additions to the Back Bay dining scene: Cafe Landwer.

A Mediterranean "diner" concept with locations across Israel, Canada, and the U.S., this marks the chain's third Boston location. Offering all-day eats from breakfast 'til dinner, along with day-long beverages spanning a coffee-snob worthy program to full bar, the new location on Boylston Street -- right across from the Boston Public Library -- offers the perfect respite for a quick coffee, lunch date, work from home change of scenery, the world's best hummus to-go right from the adjoining Landwer Marketplace, or casual post-work cocktail with friends.

To celebrate, the generous folks at Cafe Landwer are offering a complimentary order of their world-famous Rosalach, a warm, doughy, gooey confection filled with either Nutella or Cookie Butter and sprinkled with powdered sugar, with any purchase of $25.00 or more through the end of March. Just mention marlo monthly to your server and enjoy! You're welcome -- for both getting you back in the game AND for the free dessert. 😉

*Offer good at Back Bay location only
