Greetings!
Recently I've heard grumblings about summer winding down; yet there's still so much ahead of us -- from weather to travel to fun things to do with friends -- this issue of marlo monthly proves that and more! Read on to learn about a brand new inn that offers a major VIP Newport hookup. If you experienced Boston Lights last summer and think it's not worth it to go back -- think again! With an entirely new roster of spectacular lanterns, lights and interactive exhibits, personally we think this year is the best yet. And finally, as if we ever needed an excuse to eat chocolate and drink wine, join us this coming Thursday at Cocorico -- hope to see you there!
Yep, we believe that summer is a state of mind -- and it's a state we're gonna be in 'til the first sign of snow!

Chocolate and wine. Name a better duo, we dare you! If you're like us and love the finer things in life, you won't want to miss out on "Burgundy & Bonbons" -- an evening celebrating the best of both -- hosted by COJE at their modern and whimsical French boulangerie, Cocorico.
Head pastry chef Mai Nguyen is joining forces with Valrhona executive pastry chef Guillaume Roesz to create beautifully handcrafted bonbons in flavors like "Mara Colada" and "Raspberry Palinko." Perfectly paired with wines from the famed Burgundy region, as well as a delectable selection of passed hors d'oeuvres from Cocorico's coastal French sister restaurant Coquette (think: lobster salad, gougeres, and duck chichons) will be served because after all, one can't survive on chocolate alone (though we sure as hell may try one day!). Click here to buy your tickets before they sell out.
And speaking of Coquette, run don't walk to check out their new $1 oyster menu. It's the only excuse you'll need to claim your spot at their bar daily between 5-7 pm for your fill of local oysters, best when paired with a glass of Rosé or mini martinis. Cheers to an indulgent end of summer with some amazing chocolate, followed by a good shuck!

All of the lights...yea baby! Okay fine, we're no Yeezy, but we do know a spectacular show when we see one. That's why we're not sleeping on Boston Lights: A Lantern Experience at Franklin Park Zoo.
This year's huge lantern display, presented by National Grid, is truly out of this world -- as in a MASSIVE solar system display smack dab in the center of the Zoo. Space not your thing? Fear not, there's plenty more to explore. Dive under the sea and discover creatures of the deep as you walk through a giant octopus tunnel (complete with moving eyes and colorful tentacles), or stay on land to stop and (figuratively) smell the 66-foot-long corridor of roses. Interactive elements abound, with a human-sized kaleidoscope, light-up swings, and teeter-totters, along with loads of other Insta-worthy opps. And for all the 21+ peeps, swing by the Sam Adams beer garden or the Truly station to enjoy some bevvies while learning about the Zoo's conservation efforts and the biodiversity of our planet through the miracle of light. Ah, if only class could always be so fun!
Open daily through September 25th; grab your tickets now before you miss your chance to experience it all at the Zoo!
