june 2025

Dear Marlo,

After a very wet and dreary spring on the East Coast, summer is almost officially here; that's a good thing for many reasons - like my sanity! - and not the least of which is that we've got all the fixins' for a season of fun in the sun. From buns to beer to love is love, you're covered with this issue of marlo monthly.

Shark season aside, I'd be remiss if I didn't give a big shout out to the marlo PR team for killing it with some amazing recent placements for the legendary beer of New England; from the venerable Food & Wine magazine ('Best for Dive Bars') to inclusion in the magazine that is as beautiful as it is intelligent (the newly-returned-to-print Saveur) as a Father's Day gift that would make any New England dad proud of his kids' gift-giving savvy, these are definitely worthy of raising a Tall Boy!

Enjoy the start of the season and cherish every moment - particularly the dry ones - I know I will!

calise bakery

This summer, don’t just bring the heat; bring the good stuff with Calise Bakery rolls and buns. We’re talking soft, sturdy, next-level delicious; the kind of roll that holds up to a double cheeseburger, a mountain of pulled pork, or that overloaded lobstah roll that is every New Englander's summertime basic human right (preferably on a picnic bench overlooking the Atlantic, natch).

Family-owned and baking brilliance for over four generations, these bread experts know what it takes to turn your backyard BBQ into the event of the summer. Ain't nothing soggy about these buns! Just fresh, flavorful, crowd-pleasing perfection - straight from Calise's ovens to your plates.

Sunday Funday feast? Tuesday burger night? Whatever’s on the menu, Calise is ready to roll (see what we did there ;). So hit up your local Market Basket, Stop & Shop, or just add to your Instacart order because minimizing errands and maximizing pool-side time should always be #goals. However you source them, just make sure you stock up, show off, and make this summer officially grill-iant!

narragansett beer

Narragansett Beer is making waves - and crushing cans - in a summer-long celebration of Jaws turning the big 5-0. Half a century after Captain Quint crushed a can on screen, ‘Gansett’s diving back in with retro 1975 cans, rockin' partnerships, and enough capital N nostalgia to sink the Orca.

From a Martha's Vineyard vacation giveaway (find the “Shark Can” to enter!) to a killer collab with All I Need Skate and a full lineup of screenings and Shark Week events, ‘Gansett is going all in on fins, film, and feel-good summer vibes.

They're also marking 135 years of Narragansett Beer and 20 years since its Rhode Island revival - making it the perfect time to celebrate the cult-favorite lager that’s still crushing it, literally and figuratively. So, grab a can, cue the music, and - for the love of Jaws - #CrushItLikeQuint!

cocorico boulangerie

This June, la vie en rainbow is on full display at Boston’s chicest boulangerie. Tucked into the lobby of the Omni Boston Hotel at the Seaport, Cocorico is honoring Pride Month with a lineup of limited-edition pastries that are sweet, unapologetically decadent, and a little reminder that joy is worth indulging!

An annual tradition from Pastry Chef Mai Nguyen, this year’s rainbow roster features three new technicolor treats - Lemon Strawberry Rainbow Layer Cake (a literal slice of gold at the end of the rainbow), Chocolate Hazelnut Rainbow Croissant (your new morning must), and Strawberry Passionfruit Rainbow Cream Puffs (tiny, tart, and totally irresistible). Each confection is a freshly-baked, sugar-dusted love letter to love.

Whether you’re swinging by for your morning latte, stocking up for a glam Pride picnic, or simply need a moment of self-love, pick up in-person or order online here now through June 30 because love is love - whether we're talking people OR pastries!
