october 2023

Dear Marlo,

It's been a busy few weeks as we've worked to open something that Boston clearly had been missing, and we've been relishing every moment – from introducing Narragansett Beer's first ever restaurant partnership in 133 years to the crowds who couldn't wait to dive into that first bite of baked rigatoni, steak tartare, and butterscotch bread pudding. Welcome back Eastern Standard...how we've missed you so.

Should you be one of the folks scratching your head over all of the excitement, just read this love letter from the Globe's Devra First. While you still won't "get" it, you might just get it...if that makes any sense! Look forward to seeing you soon in the magical space that somehow feels the same despite looking completely different; be sure to pick up a 4-pack of ES Pilsner *to go* (maybe there are some COVID bright spots after all!) as the perfect memento of a very happy ending!

eastern standard kitchen and drinks

Among the COVID era losses, some hit hard. For thousands of people, the doors closing on Kenmore Square’s Eastern Standard represented one of the worst. Although more jerky landlord than global pandemic, its closure proved so monumental it even made the New York Times. Well, if the news has not yet reached you (please let us know which rock you’re living under and send instrux on how we can join for some well-deserved R&R), please join us in a moment of celebration as we toast its return right up the street from the original with Eastern Standard 2.0.

Long known as the welcoming landmark neighborhood joint for cool kids, soccer moms, Sox fans, students, tourists, and titans of industry alike, ES may look different, but the bones of what made it resonate with so many remain. Whether you’re sampling the classic brasserie fare, cocktailing like you’ve rarely cocktailed before, or just imbibing the vibe, it’s an experience you’ll have to feel to believe.

You know what they say, when one door closes another door opens. Consider this your official invitation to walk through that door and relive ES in all its glory…new addy but same whiskey smash-ing good time!

equal measure

We’ve all had those nights when everything lines up just right. The perfect crowd, the perfect seat, the perfect vibe, the perfect lighting, and, of course, the perfect cocktail. Welcome to your new perfect drink parlor: Equal Measure.

The latest contemporary cocktail experience from hospitality guru Garrett Harker and craft bar legend Jackson Cannon brings to the Fenway area equal parts exquisite drinks, elevated dishes (hello, deviled eggs with caviar), and exceptional service in a setting befit for – yep, you guessed it – a picture-perfect night out. Whether slowly sipping a classic cocktail on date night, enjoying a unique local brew with your happy hour crew, or celebrating the end of the week with a cheeky glass of sparkling wine sourced from halfway around the world (who needs a real reason for bubbly, after all?), this is one place we’re confident will measure up to your vision of perfection – now and for years to come.

nikki taylor events

Since everyone has long flooded back from their summer homes and overseas adventures with fresh tans and stories to tell, it’s the perfect time to gather together friends, family, coworkers, and donors for your fave cause. You know we love both planning and attending a good party (especially a marlo party - IYKYK). But alas, even the most creative of visionaries need help turning a vision board into the real deal. That’s where Nikki Taylor Events comes in. With more than a decade of event planning experience under her belt, Nikki was seeking a fresh new logo, branding and website design (all courtesy of the marlo creative team 😉) that conveyed her elegant, custom-tailored style.

So, if you’re looking for a high-touch, all-inclusive event-planning sherpa for an upcoming wedding, gala, or social event in New England, drop Nikki a line. You focus on the guest list (we’ll be waiting by the mailbox…) and Nikki will make sure your event is the talk of the decade. Let’s party!
