How it's October already is beyond me; but what a year it's been! While we may be going into another winter season with uncertainty across the board, what is always certain this time of year is the joy of all things pumpkin, creative costumes, and being scared AF, natch. This month's newsletter celebrates all the delightful -- and frightful -- things that make #PSL season our fave time of year with events and activities for you and your whole family to enjoy!
And jeepers creepers, here's to hoping that Halloween is the scariest thing we'll have to face for the rest of the year!

While the little kids have the boos, us big kids have the booze, thanks to our guys and ghouls at Narragansett Beer. Yep, our friends at 'Gansett are creating quite the October 31st brew-haha with two must-sip seasonal treats.
'Gourd Reaper,' the team's first ever pumpkin beer is currently on tap at the 'Gansett Brewery in Providence, available for you to sink your fangs into. And the interestingly named 'Cats of Ulthar Blood Red Ale' (complete with deviously alluring package design) is loaded with roasted malts to give it a sweeter backbone, and American hops for a bold character and dry finish. You can find it sold in 16 oz. cans (and eventually on draft) also at the Providence brewery.
We are firm believers that Halloween knows no age limit; lucky for us, 'Gansett has the "adult entertainment" portion of the celebration covered!

Serious question: if we're not trembling with fear from ghost stories and nightmare-inducing thrillers, is spooky szn even happening? Halloween and horror films go skeleton hand in skeleton hand so if you're in need of a bone-chilling experience away from Netflix and your couch, Showcase Cinemas has just the ticket (literally).
Taking place this month at participating theaters in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New York, and Ohio, Showcase has brought back its popular 'Halloween Horror Month' series. Movie lovers are invited to get majorly into the Halloween spirit with special screenings of cult classics and fan-favorite films. And for an extra special treat to go with the terror and tricks... Showcase filmed exclusive interviews with the talent behind some of the most iconic horror characters in all of motion picture history; the late October lineup is horrifyingly good:
- Oct. 27: "Nightmare on Elm Street" at 7:30pm (interview with Heather Langenkamp)
- Oct. 28: "The Conjuring" at 7:30pm (interview with Patrick Wilson)

If you're looking for us (a.k.a. stalking us like any proper villain would), we'll make it easy for you -- we'll be at Showcase Cinemas to get scared out of our minds and enjoy a change of scenery away from the living room sofa.

If we're talking (in between mouthfuls of candy, of course) 'Halloween activities for the whole fam,' it's no surprise that Zoo New England definitely understood the assignment. Thrills, chills, and animals await at two can't-miss events later this month.
First up -- Stone Zoo's 'Boo at the Zoo.' Bring the kids for some trick-or-treating along with the animals, costume contests, a scavenger hunt and more while zoo educators teach you and your little ones about sustainability and environmental enrichment. Since there's no such thing as too many Halloween celebrations, do it all over again at Franklin Park Zoo's 'Zoo Howl.'
And because our fave zoos not only understood the assignment but insisted on getting extra credit as well, they're equipped with printable animal masks so your cuties can dress up as their beloved critters on Halloween... or any time of the year!

Between pumpkin spiced everything, plaid flannel layers, and peeping foliage -- fall has always been New England's beloved boo. There's never a shortage of October fun to be had and Watertown's Arsenal Yards' 'hood is ready to get you in a pre-Halloween mood.
Yep, Arsenal Yards' second annual Fall Falladays celebration is underway and open to any visitor who wants to enjoy outdoor live music, pumpkin carving, games, and more. Throughout the rest of this month, guests can estimate the weight of a giant pumpkin (the grand prize is a value of $500, NBD) and starting today, vote for their favorite carved pumpkin in a contest that benefits the Watertown Boys & Girls Club.
Fuel up for the fun with takeout from Arsenal Yards' newly-opened Sweetgreen and other on-site restos, then share it all on the 'gram when you pose with the giant hay bales and other fall-tastic backdrops.
