Greetings!
It's been a busy few weeks here in marlo-land, as our team helped open two of Boston's most highly-anticipated spots of 2021. The world of all things babka is now on full display at Bakey, complete with lines out the door to try Uri Scheft's fresh from the oven baked goods. And from the genius minds of our beloved longtime client, COJE Management Group, came Coquette -- more about her, below. Also below, on the other side of the country, we launched Cafe Landwer's first West Coast location and, with more restaurant openings coming later this year, including an Italian all-day cafe in Washington, D.C., one couldn't be faulted for thinking that the challenges restaurants faced over the past 18 months are a thing of the past; spoiler alert: they're not. Be patient, be kind, be courteous...those keeping the doors open right now deserve nothing less!
Here's to good eating this fall, from coast to coast!
Best,

Step aside, J.Lo and Ben (aka 'Bennifer' 2.0), there's another affair-to-remember making headlines and breaking the Internet. Say bonjour to your newest Boston obsession, Coquette, the current masterpiece from the 'how-the-hell-do-they-do-it?' imaginations at COJE. The hospitality wizards who brought us Yvonne's, Lolita, Ruka, and Mariel, are once again transporting us abroad with their latest concept, now open on the ground floor of the Seaport's new Omni Hotel.
A modern-day French brasserie, Coquette is inspired by the beauty, culture, and cuisine found throughout the coast of Southwest France and Northern Spain. French for a woman who endeavors without sincere affection to gain the attention of men, "coquette" literally translates to "flirt" -- a fitting proclamation of the brasserie's playful energy, provocative design, and inviting blend of coastal-inspired food and drink.
The menu is COJE Culinary Director Tom Berry's inspired interpretation of a coastal French brasserie that combines the cuisines of Southwest France, Spain's Basque Country, and regions featuring strong French influences like the islands of French Polynesia, Algeria, and Tahiti. The culinary offerings are especially irresistible when paired with one of the many cocktails or bottles of wine that focus heavily on all things French.
Coquette -- gorgeous, irreverent, and replete with the cheeky flair we've come to expect from all things COJE -- is already such the place to see and be seen that we wouldn't be the least bit surprised if Boston's homeboy-gone-Hollywood and his current/former lady love are seen doing their own flirting under the Murano glass chandeliers sometime soon!

From time zones, to weather, to pace of life, to celebrity count, Boston and Los Angeles couldn't be more opposite; but, for cities with more differences than similarities (we see you, bumper to bumper traffic), the one thing they now have in common is Cafe Landwer. Yep, our go-to local Mediterranean diner has taken its talents to California with the debut of its first West Coast location.
Located in Century City's Westfield Mall, Landwer's newest home opened at the beginning of this month and features the same extensive brunch, lunch, and dinner menu that we've come to know and love since first emigrating to the States by way of Boston from Israel in 2018. Think all-day breakfast options, killer coffee, Rozalach, schnitzel, hummus, salads, and so much more...now set against the backdrop of palms instead of pines.
And because we're never gonna let LA get a leg up on us, we'll let you in on a little secret: a 3rd Boston location is coming later this fall to Copley Square to accent the existing Audubon Circle and Cleveland Circle neighborhood mainstays.
Many mazels to our friends at Landwer for continued growth, and for taking La La Land by storm. When the Boston weather inevitably turns cold, don't be surprised if you see us on the West Coast for a falafel-fueled Cali getaway!

Financial planning and investment/risk management aren't often described as 'attractive' and 'comprehensible' but leave it to us to change that narrative. Or more specifically, leave it to the brilliant, hustling marlo Creative department to do so. Yep, our in-house Adobe-loving squad have been working their asses off on a total overhaul and rebrand for Boston-based Baystate Financial's new website and the finished product is a thing of web domain beauty.
From copywriting and messaging to photo-sourcing and animation, our peeps did it all. Upon arriving at the homepage, you're instantly greeted by a serene lighthouse video playing in the background, complete with cascading waves, literally bringing the whole 'bay state' thing to life. From there, neat and tidy dropdown menus will guide you along the critical and typically overwhelming path of oh, ya know, planning the rest of your life, NBD.
With accents of muted on-brand Pantones and an easy-on-the-eyes combination of various approachable fonts, the website is a user-friendly (yet elevated) roadmap. So while words like 'Income'; 'Assets'; 'Interest,' and the like can feel overwhelming, stay calm, visit baystatefinancial.com and carry on.
