Greetings Terriers,
Today is Palm Sunday, the first day of the Holy Week. This the most sacred time of the year for many Christian people. This week honors Jesus' journey starting with his arrival in Jerusalem and ending with his crucifixion and resurrection.
Palm Sunday, or Passion Sunday, commemorates the day that Jesus entered Jerusalem. He rode into the city on a donkey, symbolizing humility, and was greeted by people waving palm leaves at him, symbolizing victory, peace, and hope. Palm Sunday serves as a reminder of Jesus' humility, his peace, and his willingness to suffer for the good of humanity. Many Christian people reflect on how they can follow Jesus and his values more closely. It is a time for hope, but also serves to remember Jesus' crucifixion and other hardships he faced.
On Palm Sunday many churches have a procession where they reenact Jesus' entry into Jerusalem with palm leaves. Attendees wave their leaves and may shape them into crosses, and take them home at the end of the service as a symbol of faith and protection. The palm leaves from this day are saved for the following year, when they will be burned and used as ashes for Ash Wednesday. Churches also read the Passion, which is about the final events in Jesus' life.

Lent is a 40 day period of praying, fasting, and self-reflection, in preparation for Easter. It is celebrated by millions of Christians worldwide each year.
Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, which falls between February 4 and March 11 every year. This year, it was on February 18th. It is observed with fasting, and people only eat one full meal with no meat that day. Many Christian people attend church and receive a cross on their forehead. This cross is made from the ashes of the leaves from the previous year's Palm Sunday celebration.
The 40 days of Lent represent the time that Jesus spent fasting in the wilderness, guided by the Holy Spirit. He faced temptations from the Devil to prepare for his public ministry.
During Lent, many Christian people give up luxuries or habits and attend additional worship services. They also perform acts of charity and service. Some people abstain from meat on Fridays, and instead eat seafood or fish. Additionally, some observers will add positive habits during this time, like personal prayers every day.
Lent ends during Holy Week on Holy Thursday, or Maundy Thursday, which commemorates the Last Supper before Jesus' crucifixion. Holy Week also includes Good Friday (remembering Jesus' crucifixion), Holy Saturday, and ends on Easter Sunday, which will be on April 5th this year. Easter Sunday celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ on the third day of his crucifixion. It celebrates Jesus' victory over death, and the belief that all Christian people will see victory over sins and other challenges.

Every year March 31st is International Transgender Day of Visibility, or Trans Day of Visibility. This is a day dedicated to celebrating happiness and joy in the transgender community around the world.
In 2009, Rachel Crandall-Crocker created International Transgender Day of Visibility because she had attended numerous Trans Day of Remembrance celebrations, and always felt sad afterwards. Trans Day of Remembrance is dedicated to honoring people in the trans community who have passed, but she wanted to have a day celebrating the trans community in a happy way instead of focusing on tragedies.
She chose March 31st because it was far enough away from Trans Day of Remembrance in November, and Pride Month in June. She made a Facebook post encouraging people to celebrate the day and organize festivities in their community.
It is now widely recognized and celebrated internationally. This is a time to unite the trans community and celebrate and raise awareness.

Shred + Recycle Event - BU Sustainability, BU Information Security
Bring your sensitive documents and hard drives for shredding, along with any electronics and recyclables. Have questions about recycling or keeping your BU account secure? Our Sustainability and Information Security teams will be on hand to help!
These events are open to all faculty, staff, and students to safely & securely dispose of documents – any and all paperwork, especially those papers with personal or sensitive information – and hard drives. You can also recycle batteries, lightbulbs, toner, cords, and electronics. Additional recycling opportunities for recycling textiles, books, and film plastics.

Trans Day of Visibility: Across Generations - Fenway Health
Join us for our 2nd annual Trans Day of Visibility (TDOV) event for a day of rest and play. Come hang out, play games, make arts & crafts, eat food and/or take a meal to go. We’ll have board games, video games, Legos, button-making, zine-making, and more.
In addition to activities, this is also a space to learn about gender affirming care, get free gender affirming gear, check out a book from our trans and gender diverse lending library, and stock up on hygiene supplies.
We’ll also have a panel that celebrates trans people across generations.
This free event is for trans and gender diverse folks of all ages, your families + loved ones. We encourage you to share this with folks in your community who may be interested in coming.

Social Media Intern - BU Sustainability
Are you someone with a passion for content creation and sustainability? The Social Media Intern will help develop, design and execute social media campaigns for BU Sustainability’s social media accounts. The ideal candidate will be someone with a passion for content creation and developing captivating video and written content.
Along with the position’s core social media functions, this candidate will support additional communications management tasks and other projects within BU Sustainability. The internship has the potential to extend into subsequent semesters, and preference is given to long-term candidates.

Wellbeing Graduate Intern - MIT
A signature goal of the Division Student Life (DSL) is to promote a culture of well-being and sense of belonging.
The Wellbeing Graduate Intern is an integral member of the Student Wellbeing and the Support, Wellbeing, and Belonging teams in the DSL. The Graduate Intern will develop and implement programs and training opportunities, advise peer support organizations to promote student well-being, and assist in the development of well-being communications.
Through those programs and initiatives that center well-being, students will be provided with opportunities to enhance their knowledge about well-being as individuals and within broader communities, engage in healthy decision-making, and develop and apply skills that promote healthy and purposeful living. These efforts will contribute to overall efforts to enhance and sustain a campus environment focused on promoting student well-being.

Operations Intern - The Greater Boston Food Bank
The intern will work on a new transportation plan reporting to the logistics team, as well as working with the Agency Relations and the Food Acquisition teams. The goal is to examine the current system and provide solutions to create efficiency, with the potential to reduce miles driven, improve idle time, and create a process for donation pickups.
Role & Responsibilities
Research transportation efficiencies in transportation plans, including routes, open slots, and potential automation opportunities.
Track and analyze errors in inventory, identifying sources of discrepancies.
Review spreadsheets and other data provided by the Warehouse Logistics Specialist.
Produce a final report summarizing findings and recommendations at the end of the internship.
Support other warehouse-related research projects as needed.
