Mary K. Lloyd (now Mary Lloyd Richards) has been a music lover and musician for most of her life, having sung in church choirs and as a soloist since her teenage years. She studied with classically-trained harpist Jirong Ye. She plays and sings with a church-based ensemble, Grace Notes; in a duo called Kindred Spirits with a good friend; and also with an early music group, the St Cecilia Consort in College Station TX.
Mary is a composer, poet, and lyricist. She is Composer in Residence for First Christian Church of Bryan-College Station.
On May 25, 2013, she married her "A Chara mo chroí" - the "Friend of her heart," Robert Richards. The wedding music was comprised mostly of songs that she, and her Kindred Spirit Cheryl, had written over the preceding year. The bride and groom sang, as part of their vows, a duet Mary had written especially for the occasion.
