from the ptsa president
It takes a village! An important goal of our PTSA is to keep the Langley community informed , and at a school as large and accomplished as Langley, there’s much to report! Thank you to our webmaster Betsy Vrankovich , who beautifully maintains the PTSA website and keeps it up to date, and to our eNews team (listed below) for its dedication to disseminating news and events to Langley each week.

Special thanks go to Langley’s class parent leaders and teams , who work an entire four years on behalf of our students. The class parent committees are led by Elizabeth Trumbull (Class of 2020), Lee Ann Brownlee and Noelle Soobert (Class of 2021), Amy Swaak (Class of 2022) and Connie Colabatistto (Class of 2023). Each class has a team of about 10 parents who work on several events including Class Dinners, Spirit Week, Homecoming, Prom, Senior Slideshow and All Night Grad Party . The committees work throughout the year to keep Langley parents and students informed of important events and timelines pertinent to each class. They also organize four class forums each year , where timely and practical information is provided to help parents guide their students through everything from new student orientation, to course selection and planning, to driver's ed, to SATs and ACTs, to college applications and, finally, graduation!

If you haven’t tapped into your class group yet, please take advantage of this great resource, and access your class page  here .

langley/mclean boundary update
About 200 people attended the Langley/McLean boundary meetings held earlier this month at Langley and McLean High Schools. FCPS staff presented overviews and maps of three boundary options and attendees reviewed the options and provided comments and questions. The feedback was posted during the meetings and is slated to be available online from FCPS.

The neighborhoods involved in the options  are in the boundaries of  Spring Hill ES and Colvin Run ES These schools are split-feeders , and so are thought by some to be the easiest to redistrict. In addition to providing detailed feedback about the options, some attendees noted longer-term goals, including the ongoing need for renovations and expansion at McLean HS and an aim to keep all Great Falls residents in the Langley HS boundary.

FCPS states it may make changes in time for next year (2020-21) or may wait until 2021-22. Next steps include meetings in spring 2020 and recommendations following that to the School Board. Click here to view current FCPS boundary maps . Two local news articles about the meetings are available here and here .
