from the ptsa president

I hope you enjoyed the Labor Day weekend! This week brought several opportunities for you and your students to connect with the Langley community, such as Club Day today. Next week will provide more opportunities to meet other parents, teachers and administrators at our first PTSA Meeting and Back to School Night (BTSN).

Our first General Membership meeting will be next Tue, Sept 12 at 5 pm before BTSN. Arrive early, get a great parking spot, and enjoy the light food and drinks the PTSA will provide beforehand. Enter through Door 14 for easy access to Langley Hall and the Auditorium where our meeting and 4:30 pm reception will be held. We will discuss our spending priorities for PTSA sponsored events this year and vote on the budget, as well as discuss upcoming events. In addition, Andrew Scronce, World Languages Department Chair, will be our featured speaker. Mr. Scronce will demonstrate how materials purchased for the Japanese program help students learn the language. Come out and see how our donations and dues are enriching the school curriculum!

After our meeting, BTSN will provide you with the chance to walk your student’s schedule, meet their teachers and hear from administrators. As you walk through the school and sit in the classrooms you'lll notice:

  • the stone structuring holding up Langley’s digital sign along Georgetown Pike
  • a look at the landscaping and umbrellas in the school’s interior courtyards
  • science lab equipment, including the cordless LED stereo microscope
  • musical instruments and more in the performing arts department
  • iPads in Japanese class funded by the PTSA
  • furniture in the common areas
  • and much more!

It is your annual membership and donation dollars that allow the PTSA to fund all the above and more. Please join the PTSA, if you have not done so yet!

Thank you for your support and I hope to see you at tomorrow’s PTSA Tailgate Party! Go

Saxons!
