Relink.org Is Officially a Recovery Friendly Workplace!

We are excited to announce that relink.org is officially a Recovery Friendly workplace. We went through the certification process with Maggie Urban-Waala of Summit County Public Health and learned an abundance of great information.

A Recovery Friendly workplace prevents substance misuse, reduces stigma, encourages treatment and is willing to work with those in recovery. Our team will participate in future trainings and were given a Naloxbox to hang up at our place of employment.

If you would like to become certified, feel free to reach out to Maggie at mwaala@schd.org. She makes the process seamless from start to finish.

Restoring Hope in Our Community

The relink.org team has been busy demonstrating our extensive database for those in need. After a recent visit to Madison Correctional Institute, Administrative Assistant/Data Entry Specialist Oneida Tidmore reflected on her experience:

"During my visit to Madison Correctional Institute for a reentry event, it was intriguing to learn that a lot of the inmates were seeking information from relink.org not only for themselves, but for their loved ones. Some of the men who still had time to serve were taking the proactive approach of looking up information to set up jobs and housing options for when they are released. One of the questions that was asked was how their families can benefit from using relink.org as well. After a demonstration of relink.org and a few one-on-one conversations, they left the relink.org table with smiles knowing that help was at their fingertips. Providing them information and seeing that gleam of hope was the best part of the event."

It's stories like this that make the work our team is doing worthwhile. We are passionate about providing resources for those in need so individuals can overcome whatever challenges they are experiencing.

If you would like a demonstration of how to best utilize the relink.org database, please reach out to our team at info@relink.org.

Relink.org Data Analysis: The Housing Crisis Rages On

Each month, relink.org tracks the number of searches for services on our database. So far in 2023, Reentry is the most searched category on relink.org. This is in large part because of our ongoing project with the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation (ODRC) where inmates at ODRC facilities are able to use relink.org to plan their lives after release. Every ODRC reentry coalition's services are on relink.org, making the database a strong resource for justice-involved citizens.

Housing instability continues to be a major issue for individuals and families. The top four most searched subcategories on relink.org involve housing of some kind.

Finding housing can be incredibly challenging, and relink.org is here to help. With over 750 organizations providing housing assistance on relink.org, we are confident you will find help in your neighborhood through our database.

New Statewide Reentry Task Force

Chief Justice Sharon L. Kennedy announced the formation of the Supreme Court of Ohio Reentry Task Force. The task force will be comprised of state and local agencies, judges, law enforcement, and community health and rehabilitation partners (Court News Ohio).

The task force will analyze the needs, services, and practices between courts and the reentry population to identify best practices to aid in reentry and provide a holistic approach to restore returning citizens.

The Reentry Task Force will hold its first meeting on May 18, 2023 and will be asked to deliver its report of findings and recommendations to the Supreme Court next year.
