Dear brothers and sisters in our Lord Jesus, part of the growing repentance remnant, cleansing as His Bride, getting ready for His soon return as our Bridegroom-----

As many of us celebrate a Holy Week leading to Jesus/ Yeshua's Resurrection, it's important to remember how significant the Last Supper was, how it speaks of a better covenant, and how clearly we are told to repent prior to partaking in this extraordinary sacrament, affectionally, ever thankfully, honoring His Body and His Blood. This is beautifully written by my friend, Jane Snyder of Melchizedek's Treasure ministries.

Repent to be Holy in Taking Communion.

COMMUNION

23 For this is what the Lord himself has said about his Table, and I have passed it on to you before: That on the night when Judas betrayed him, the Lord Jesus took bread, 24 and when he had given thanks to God for it, he broke it and gave it to his disciples and said, “Take this and eat it. This is my body, which is given for you. Do this to remember me.”

25 In the same way, he took the cup of wine after supper, saying, “This cup is the new agreement between God and you that has been established and set in motion by my blood. Do this in remembrance of me whenever you drink it.” 26 For every time you eat this bread and drink this cup you are retelling the message of the Lord’s death, that he has died for you. Do this until he comes again.

27 So if anyone eats this bread and drinks from this cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner, he is guilty of sin against the body and the blood of the Lord. 28 That is why a man should examine himself carefully before eating the bread and drinking from the cup.

29 For if he eats the bread and drinks from the cup unworthily, not thinking about the body of Christ and what it means, he is eating and drinking God’s judgment upon himself; for he is trifling with the death of Christ. 30 That is why many of you are weak and sick, and some have even died.

31 But if you carefully examine yourselves before eating you will not need to be judged and punished. 32 Yet, when we are judged and punished by the Lord, it is so that we will not be condemned with the rest of the world.  1 Cor. 11:23-32 TLB

I see here a firm exhortation to examine ourselves before taking of the bread and wine.

Examine ourselves looking for what? The answer is of course sin.

It says in verse 26 that when we take communion, we are retelling the message of the Lord’s death, that he has died for us.

Could this lack of examination be caused by

having no fear of the Lord?

REPENTANCE

Father, forgive me for not taking time to seek You for my hidden sins, as well as my glaring ones, in confession and repentance before I take your bread and wine.

Forgive me for overlooking Your monumental sacrifice that You made, so that all in the world could receive acceptance with forgiveness.

Thank You, Lord, for what You did.

Cleanse me for keeping You out of the shut doors as I open each one to You.

I take Your bread and wine to celebrate Your sacrifice for us, without which we would be hopeless. Restore my hope as I see You in the bread and wine.

I repent for any residue of the love of money for which Judas sold You to the enemies, on that last night when he dined at your very table of the instituting of the new covenant in Your blood. It instituted the new era of gentile inclusion into Your family. For this we are so thankful.

You probably even washed Juda’s feet. Ohh Lord.

You continue to wash my feet too… over and over, and I am so unworthy. Help me to be like this with others. Help me to be able to forgive easily.

UNITY

16 When we ask the Lord’s blessing upon our drinking from the cup of wine at the Lord’s Table, this means, doesn’t it, that all who drink it are sharing together the blessing of Christ’s blood? And when we break off pieces of the bread from the loaf to eat there together, this shows that we are sharing together in the benefits of his body. 1 Cor. 10:16 TLB

I want to highlight The unity of one body in awe of our sharing in Jesus’ sacrifice for us. His sacrifice was for US and not just for “me”.

Help me Lord to get that through my head and into my heart.

REPENTANCE

Father, today I am troubled by how short I have fallen from:

  1. caring about the unity of the community I am sharing bread and wine with. Please show me how much You love the others I am with, and give me Your compassion. Forgive me, please. Make a change in me. I want to change. I repent for not seeing us as ONE, but only as me and You exclusively.
  2. Lord, I repent for being selfish in my thoughts, words, and deeds. Please forgive me and cause my heart to be pure like Yours.
  3. How can I joyously sacrifice for the other’s well-being without resentment? Forgive me Lord, for those trails of resentment. Wash me clean.

OUR FIRST LOVE

Help us to recover the joy of our first love. We long for this:

43 A deep sense of awe was on them all,

and the apostles did many miracles.

44 And all the believers met together constantly and shared everything with each other,

45 selling their possessions and dividing with those in need.

46 They worshiped together regularly at the Temple each day,

met in small groups in homes for Communion,

and shared their meals with great joy and thankfulness

Acts 2:43-46 TLB

NDR counts on you to support us. We are two volunteers, forwarding funds you donate to NDR in turn to repentance-based ministries, now in 10 different nations. In every case, food is an issue for these men and women of God and their families and neighbors. Thank you in advance for giving, in the spirit of Luke 8:3, and 2 Corinthians chapters 8 and 9. As you give food to the hungry you stand with the King as one of His sheep. (Matthew 25:35).

God bless you,

The Lord makes it clear: Luke 13:1-5, repent or perish. Here's a NDR video on this key scripture:  https://youtu.be/oT15XrDvv9c

and this video on ETERNITY, 7 pounds of dust: https://youtu.be/uzZvbbS7vuI

Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
