Wishing A Quick Recovery
To All Fire-Affected Studios & Pro Audio Communities

This month music producer Greg Wells lost his state-of-the-art Dolby Atmos mixing room and studio along with his family home in Pacific Palisades. On @sirgregwells, you'll find the Variety report against the backdrop of Johnny Cash song: Ring of Fire. Wells' credits include: Wicked, John Legend (2021 Grammys Best R&B Album), Adele, Taylor Swift, P!nk, Rufus Wainwright, Timbaland, Katy Perry, Keith Urban, Dua Lipa, Pharrell Williams, and Ariana Grande, to name a few. Project Reharmony is an initiative helmed by renowned drummer The Pocket Queen and music producer Greg Wells. The goal is to put instruments, software, and studio gear back into the hands of music makers who lost their instruments/equipment in the terrible LA Fires. - to donate visit here
The revered rock producer and mixer Bob Clearmountain (Mix This) lost his house and his custom-built home recording studio in the Palisades fire.
EveAnna Manley (Manley Labs) has been manufacturing Pro Audio and audiophile vacuum tube gear since 1989. Her house in Altadena is fortunately still standing since she prepared her home for natural disasters such as the Eaton Fire by replacing the wood shingles on her home’s exterior with concrete shingles, etc. After power was shut off in her area, Manley has been focused on helping other neighbors who also chose to stay by offering hot showers, access to laundry and hot food. Pianist Quinn Johnson (Steve Tyrell, Diane Schuur, Rod Stewart, Brent Fischer Orchestra) and his family lost their home in Altadena last week. Friends have set up a go-fund-me page, for those of you who can give.
Malibu’s celebrated Shangri-La recording studio, owned by producer Rick Rubin (Adele, U2, Pearl Jam, Lady Gaga, Metallica, Eminem, Harry Styles), miraculously survived the Palisades fire that recently decimated much of that area.
Wishing you all fire-affected studios and communities a quick recovery.

Jesse Welles
Welles music gets lot of views on Instagram. Jesse Welles looks like John Fogerty and sounds like Bob Dylan. He sings with his guitar and harmonica, usually standing in the middle of an open field, probably close to home. Best of all, you can pull up the lyrics of Domestic Error and sing along with Jesse. He sings his guts out with a broken voice about wars, insurance companies, LA fires or whatever he finds on the headlines of the day. His shows are SOLD OUT from North Carolina to Texas to San Francisco, but you can get on the waiting list or listen here

THE ATC SCS70 PRO
AN ACTIVE SUBWOOFER WITH EXCEPTIONAL LOW-FREQUENCY DETAIL AND FLEXIBLE SETTINGS
| |
TransAudio Group, U.S. distributer of the finest professional recording equipment in the world, is pleased to announce the new ATC SCS70 Pro, a compact, ultra-high performance subwoofer using ATC’s first, in-house-designed and built sub driver.
Designed by Billy Woodman and his team of engineers, this new 12-inch sub driver delivers the kind of honest and detailed low-frequency information that professionals have come to expect from ATC. “Subwoofers can be a source of distortion, making the mixing or mastering process a guessing game. Now an ATC system, complete with the one or two SCS70 subs, can deliver full bandwidth audio for any genre, enabling superior translation on any system it gets played on, from ear buds to home hi-fi to clubs and everything in-between. Other subwoofers rely on EQ and poorly implemented ports, transmission lines or passive radiators to boost low end and make their subs sound impressive," says Brad Lunde. The Daking Mic Pre 4T
Soulful Circuitry Meets Proprietary Problem-Solving
| |
"The Daking Mic Pre 4T, nominated for a TEC Award 2023, will elevate any recording offering unique solutions to common problems," say Brad Lunde (click top left image for a video presentation by Brad Lunde). The “low-distortion” Jensen input and output transformers offer more linear low-end performance under super dynamic conditions. Daking’s own variable high-pass filter dials out the low-frequency mud that can be subsonic and will decrease available headroom. Built in the USA, Daking uses only high-end parts like Jensen input and output transformers in a high-end design using all-discrete transistor Class A circuitry. Unusually high 24dB of headroom and easy to read twenty segment meters make proper gain staging easy and forgiving under a wider array of conditions. | |

"Ideas are beautiful and abstract and they exist like fish. If you sit quietly, you'll catch ideas like fish. They do exist... Ideas are like an electrical spark. It could be (idea for a film or a song...you must write them down when it comes to you. It's amazing how much of it comes out like a flash...like a gift. Some ideas take longer to develop, like in the case of making a film. It's the seed, and you have to stay true to it."
