Official news about the City of Cedar Park from the City of Cedar Park.

Happy 50th Anniversary, Cedar Park!

The City of Cedar Park turns the Big 5-0, today, February 24, 2023!

On this day in 1973, the City of Cedar Park officially incorporated as a City - after several hundred residents petitioned to incorporate. That day, the City's first Mayor, Kenneth Bell (after whom Bell Boulevard is named) and first Aldermen (now called City Council Members), Buz Henry, Don Webster, John Dixon, Bonnie (Hunt) Merrill and Sam Blair were sworn in outside Shellnut’s Grocery Store at Cedar Park Plaza shopping center.

At the time, just over 700 residents lived here. Over the past 50 years, Cedar Park has grown into a vibrant, diverse community of close to 84,000 people - yet we still retain our small-town connectedness and friendliness.

At the February 23, 2023 City Council Meeting, several of our former Aldermen and past City Council Members joined our current City Council Members to celebrate this momentous occasion with us. As we turn 50 years old as a city, we reflect on our past and look forward to our future.

We hope you can celebrate with us at tonight's City of Cedar Park's 50th Anniversary Friday Night Fever Family Dance (details below) - and be on the lookout for more 50th anniversary-themed "golden" opportunities to celebrate all throughout the year.

Meanwhile, we hope you'll enjoy this video we've put together for you, telling the story of the City of Cedar Park.

Tree Debris Curbside Special Collection Update

We know you’re eager to see clear streets. So are we!

• Tree debris picked up so far = 50 football fields, stacked 100-ft. high, each

• Crews are only making one pass through all City neighborhoods

• They will not return to already-serviced streets

Here’s how you can help speed things up:

• Debris curbside, not on private property

• No cars parked within 5 feet of debris

• Limbs and brush only - no other materials will be picked up

Hang in there! The crews are coming.

The Cedar Park City Council welcomed some very special guests at the February 24, 2023 City Council Meeting. Ukrainian Army Chaplain Amelin Serhii (center) stepped away from the battlefields of Ukraine to pay a visit to the United States. One of his stops was the Cedar Park City Council Meeting, where he gave an update on the situation in Ukraine as part of his invocation, and left some special gifts from his country.
