Where Wakefield Connects

A note from the Director

Dear Patrons,

Many, many of you enjoyed Summer At The Library. Thank you for joining us! Now that fall is here, I have two important updates.

HOOPLA CAUTION

Hoopla is unique in that its offerings are not selected by librarians, but “ingested.” The result is that among their great selection is AI generated content and slop.

We are working with Hoopla to eliminate sub-standard materials, but until then: Please Beware. Some of it really is a waste of your time. We hesitate to cancel Hoopla entirely, because it is popular with patrons and has some materials that are difficult to provide otherwise, like TV and audio.

LIBRARY CARDS

When borrowing at Beebe, you will be asked for your library card (or the card on which a hold was placed). Library card use is easy, ensures accuracy, and keeps accounts secure.

We offer both wallet and keychain cards, and your card can be digitized and carried on your phone.

If your card is lost, replacements are now available for free. Note that a replacement will give you a new number into which your old account will be merged.

I hope you take advantage of everything a library card offers in the building and on the website, free to all.

As always, I’m happy to hear comments and answer questions.

Happy Fall,

Catherine
