CFD2 Annual Open House & Pancake Feed

The CFD2 Annual Open House and Pancake Feed was held on Saturday, May 3, at Station 21. It was a perfect day for opening the bay doors and welcoming our friends and neighbors to join us for a good breakfast for a great cause. The event was free to attend but we received over $1500 in donations, all of which goes directly to Back to School with a Firefighter, a Prairie Village Foundation program for local kids who can use the help in purchasing supplies for the upcoming school year.

NEJC Leadership Class

On Thursday, April 17, CFD2 joined the 2025 NEJC Leadership Class at the Overland Park Fire Training Center to provide education on the role of CFD2 in the community and to give Leadership Class participants a chance to experience a few of the things that firefighters do in the course of their jobs. Participants had the opportunity to go up in the bucket of the ladder truck, and also to don full gear and SCBA and enter the tower, search for flames and douse the flames with the hose. CFD2 Administrative Assistant Joanna Russell was a member of the class and reports that this experience was hands-down the favorite part of the entire 5-month class for all the participants!
