We’re contacting supporters of Springs Taxpayers United 501(c)(3) for our 2024 End of Year Fundraising Drive. We catch many government schemes happening in Colorado Springs and El Paso County and keep a close eye on the local government’s wasteful spending of your tax dollars. Additionally, we generate original content and provide detailed information that other outlets don’t deliver. If you’d like to contribute, you have a few options. You can make your check out to, “Springs Taxpayers United,” and mail it to:

Please include your name and address so we can send you a thank you note and receipt. You can also find our donation page HERE if you prefer to donate electronically. As always, thank you for your generous support! We appreciate you and couldn’t continue our mission without you!
Here are some of the stories we are following this week. Connect with us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for up-to-the-minute news.
- If you are impacted by noise coming from Ford Amphitheater, Mayor Yemi Mobolade has scheduled a listening tour to hear your complaints. Details can be found here, and also in the meetings section of this newsletter below.
- Colorado Springs Mayor Yemi Mobolade took to social media in a video address to deny any involvement with a racist crime hoax prior to his election. Additionally, he continues to deny reports he lied to the FBI regarding his connections to those who committed this hoax.
- One Pikes Peak Library District Board Member would like to see the Rockrimmon Library become a community center. Those in government positions are always eager to find ways to spend more of the money they take from you.
- City of Colorado Springs officials are discussing an expansion of the Sit-Lie ordinance, which makes it illegal to lie down on the sidewalk in certain areas in town. This should definitely be expanded to the westside, but this expansion begs a question: Why is it legal to lie down, sit for extended periods, camp, pitch tents, or meet one’s toilet needs on any taxpayer-provided sidewalk anywhere in our city?
- The City of Colorado Springs sent a survey to residents to discover what residents thought about how the city is handling various issues. These residents responded that crime prevention and enforcing laws were a top priority.
- If you’ve ever wanted to run for Colorado Springs City Council, now is your chance to get in on all the action.
- Over the summer, Colorado Springs City Council failed to impose a height restriction on buildings downtown. One proposed apartment development project will surpass downtown’s current tallest building by 50 feet. Remember, after one building gets built, every other politically connected developer will want one too.
- UC Health is planning a major expansion at Memorial Hospital North. This expansion will come close to doubling the size of the existing hospital footprint.
- Colorado Springs City Council may vote to annex 2000 acres of land near Schriever Space Force Base to allow for the building of 6500 homes. What will be the strain on our water supply if this development is completed?
- Colorado Springs planning officials are changing local accessory dwelling unit rules to conform to new state rules. The city planners actually want to go above and beyond what state law requires, causing apprehension and concern from some residents.
- Pueblo City Council voted to spend $1 million on security cameras for Pueblo parks. How long before these cameras are vandalized?
- Governor Polis wants to establish Chinese communist 15-minute cities in Colorado to allow all-knowing government bureaucrats to micromanage how you live and commute. Folks in Grand Junction are pushing back on this anti-liberty agenda.
- Governor Polis and Colorado democrats are excitedly preparing to use taxpayer funds to provide medical treatment for the illegal immigrants they have intentionally trafficked into the state. This is expected to cost taxpayers around $51 million. When was the last time Jared Polis’ government offered you anything other than regulations and the bills for their taxpayer-funded self-indulgent schemes?
- In related Governor Jared Polis news, under his administration, Colorado has fallen in economic performance from 5th to 41st in the nation. Colorado is also the 6th most regulated state in the nation. Coincidence? No, not at all. This declining economic performance is predicted to continue in 2025. It’s no exaggeration to state that Governor Polis is purposely making us all poorer.
- Residents in Denver voted for a sidewalk tax. Now, the bill is coming due. Starting January 1, most residents will be charged $150 per year for sidewalk repairs.
- Denver is also planning to eliminate minimum parking requirements for all new developments. This is a step in the overall plan to push you away from driving your personal vehicle, and onto unreliable, and sometimes death-defying public transportation. Your government overlords resent your freedom to choose and are trying to take it away from you.
- One organized crime gang in Denver has been stealing vehicles, especially expensive high-end pickup trucks, and trading them to Mexican drug cartel members for drugs. This group worked exclusively with the Sinaloa drug cartel, and they were operating freely in Denver. It’s shocking that foreign drug cartels have this much direct impact on American citizens. What’s not shocking is that Colorado now ranks as the 3rd most dangerous state in the country. Thanks for nothing, Governor Polis.
- Leaders in the Colorado State Senate have barred one democrat senator from having state-paid aids. As it turns out, Senator Sonya Jaquez Lewis is hostile and nasty toward her assistants and treats them like garbage. She actually directs them to do chores at her home and to bartend at her house parties. Naturally, she pays for this from campaign funds. We fully expect this contempt for others to be reflected in her legislative performance. Why do spoiled, disdainful, room-temperature IQ children in adult bodies consistently get elected to office?
- Remember Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold leaking voting machine passwords online during the recent election? It has now been decided that this malfeasance was just a harmless mistake, and she will suffer no consequences. Even though it appears to be a felony. Our Magic 8-Ball at Springs Taxpayers United remains undefeated. Election security is her number one job. She’s a complete failure.
- The Colorado Department of Transportation will no longer use the South Tejon Park and Ride for Bustang service, due to dangerous and threatening behavior from the battalion of unstable vagrants who inhabit the area. Greyhound bus service still utilizes this location for their bus passengers. Will Greyhound stop using this Park and Ride location too?
- If you would like to help support us in our mission as government watchdogs by becoming a Newsletter Sponsor, we are offering two sponsorships for each weekly newsletter, at the nominal cost of $100 each. Funds raised from these sponsorship opportunities will help us to keep looking out for taxpayers.
Here are some upcoming meetings in the area. We hope you can attend one or more! If there are other public meetings you’d like to see announced here, please drop us a line. We are happy to include them in an upcoming newsletter. These might be government-related, candidate, or elected official meetings. Thanks!
