Teachers Exchange Program

A total of 292 schoolteachers participating in the Child’s Dream Cambodia-funded English Literacy Training (ELT) Program in Varin and Svayleu districts recently completed a visit to Prasat Banteay Srei and Sotr Nikum districts to meet and learn from the outstanding ELT alumni. The alumni provided them with clear insights into classroom management, classroom language, and engaging primary school teaching techniques. The teachers expressed high satisfaction and a strong willingness to practice what they have learned in their own schools.

Child’s Dream Team Visit

The ELT program is sponsored by Child’s Dream and CCDO were honored to have their team visit on site to observe teachers at different primary schools. Twelve teachers in all were observed and coached by our trainers. It was abundantly clear to all that teachers had remarkably improved their teaching skills during the 5 months of training. Teachers adopted the teaching strategies and techniques from our trainers. They could create a positive and effective teaching and learning process in their classrooms.

In the afternoons, our teams observed our trainers Ms. Sopheak and Ms. Sombon conducting their respective trainings and witnessed the teacher trainees’ active engagement with fun games and activities to make English learning more enjoyable and effective.

Anamay Partnership

CCDO is proud to partner with Anamay, a social enterprise that produces all natural, eco-friendly, artisanal, Cambodian made soaps. The Founder, high schooler Phasukar Phan, started after she witnessed a severe lack of sanitation facilities in Cambodia’s rural communities on trips to the provinces.

“This started as a passion project, where I made homemade soaps to donate, but grew into a business to pursue greater change,” says Phasukar.

- ALL profits of Anamay soap and hygiene kits are donated to fund toilet construction in underserved communities. They have already donated FOUR toilets.

More School Toilet Blocks

Yet another Global grant of School Toilet blocks was secured in collaboration with Rotary Club Sentosa, Singapore and Rotary International. This now brings the total of toilet blocks in rural schools to 54 built in the past few years. Many of these students do not have toilets at home and having one at school is a luxury that many of us take for granted. The toilets are beautiful in design and are always well maintained and kept remarkably clean by the students.

Donors

A big shout out to our faithful supporter Sandra Horowitz from Montreal who donated $1,000. This is her 30th donation over the past 15 years. That adds to $30,000. A mighty number with a mighty impact.

Sandra says, “I have supported CCDO for many years, first contributing to the construction of latrines, a novel and very important way to provide basic needs to people. CCDO expanded into building and maintaining schools and libraries, assuring the funds went directly to the people in need. This charity has operated with integrity and consistency with Jenni at the helm.”

Goldfield Foundation has generously expanded their investment from initial WASH (water wells and toilets) to Education by granting additional $25,000. Our children, their parents and teachers thank you from the bottom of their hearts.

Mad Monkey Hostel in Siem Reap has been collecting funds from their guests and gratefully presented CCDO with $205 of donations for the past 2 months.

Visitors

Scott Friedman, co-founder of Together We Can Change The World and his group, paid a brief visit to see the Dental program that they fund. They have been also instrumental in building over 150 wells. Their passion is always their visits with the kids and reading to them at our Mobile Library.

Rotary Installations in Kuching,
Malaysia & Singapore

Our founder Jenni strengthened our Rotary Club connections by attending club installations in Kuching, Malaysia and Singapore. The motto of “Everlasting Impact, Service and Fellowship” is true to form as clubs from the Asian region gather to support their fellow Rotarians. She was glad to greet many Rotarians that have visited CCDO in Cambodia and made new connections with interested clubs.
