Students Build Communication Skills Through

Introduction Speeches

Students listened as Noah Wood (Carpentry I) delivered an introduction speech as a

part of their recent public speaking project.

Hunter Collings (Automotve Technology II) practiced public speaking skills while introducing a classmate during his speech.

Cameron Hines (IT Academy II) presented an introduction speech about a classmate.

A-Tech students in Carrie Thompson's English IV class are getting to know their classmates while building communication skills through an

Introduction Speech Project. For the assignment, students had to

interview a classmate to learn more about their background, interests, experiences and future goals. They then used the information they gathered to write, organize and deliver a speech introducing their partner to the class.

The project gives students practice with interviewing, writing and public speaking while challenging them to step outside of their comfort zones and learn something new about a classmate.
