Almighty God -

Oh, the earth! The world and worlds that you have made! They are too wonderful for anyone to even realize.

Do any human beings ever realize life

while they live it? -- every, every minute?

Grant us realization.

Amen.

On January 22, 1938 Thornton Wilder's landmark play, Our Town, premiered at the McCarter Theater in Princeton, NJ. In this prayer - taken and adapted from one of the main characters' soliloquies by The SALT Project - Wilder suggests that ordinary days are overwhelmingly filled with God if we have eyes to see. The play won the Pulitzer Prize the same year it debuted.

Sunday Morning!

During Annual Meeting

Here's what we know:

Alex, the new kid? He didn't take Honey, the beloved class bunny. He was set up by Emma!

But you still have to find the bunny. Two case envelopes remain.

I will have the case files set up in the young adult room downstairs once more if you would like to finish the case!

Weather permitting, of course.

Ecclesiastes V:15, William Majors, 1965

Under Heaven, Arthur Barnes

In thinking about "listening" for God in Sunday school this week, we wondered why it can be so very hard to hear...

One of the reasons has to do with the fact that we are continually pushed to give our lives meaning. You know what I mean: "don't you want to do something with your life?," or "don't you want your life to mean something?"

And so we go in search of things that we think will give our lives meaning. Usually, what we mean is that we want something to show for our lives. And yet, our lives already have inherent meaning. We exist and therefore we mean something. Something important.

How would we act differently if we really believed that we are meaningful and important just because we exist?

For Parents!

Try the parent forum for youth ministry HERE! You’ll need to use your email address to join. And a class code may be required, as well (pwdlelps). Once you enter the site you'll find a new question for the week:

Should youth group/youth ministry do/be anything different from that which the wider parish aims to do/be? If so, what? If not, why have youth ministry?

Rite 13 is back on Wednesday, January 28th at 5:30 PM!

And we'll be asking the question: "Why Church?"

After all, the Church can seem irrelevant, out of touch, and disconnected from our real lives. And yet, our catechism affirms that the Church is holy.

We'll talk all about it following supper!
