Dear Jo-Ann,

What do you say as you leave an organization that you love and have helped build into its current iteration? It’s hard to articulate the gratitude and emotions I’m feeling today.

I want to thank my incredible team! I want you to know (really know!) how much I love you. Your passion, your enthusiasm, your flexibility, and your love, all add up to an amazing group of humans capable of changing lives – mentors, mentees, program partners, stakeholders, mine. The community is richer because of each of you.

To the Board of Directors…thank you! I value your leadership, commitment, and friendship, and have 100% confidence that you will select the BEST next permanent President & CEO that will have a vision and passion for this work and bring MENTOR Rhode Island to a new level. I am grateful for each of you!

To my predecessor, Arlene McNulty, thank you for hiring me, believing in me, and being my mentor.

To the interim President & CEO, Marc Mainville, good luck! Thank you for stepping into the interim role. You have always been my right-hand man and I love and appreciate you. You’ve got a great team. You’ve got this!

To my daughters and family, thank you for supporting and loving me through so many transitions. Without you, I would never have been able to come this far. I love and adore you!

To each of you reading this, thank you! Donors, Mentors, Program Folks, Friends of Mentor RI. Please know how grateful I am and how much I appreciate you, respect you for your dedication to mentoring, and honor the difference you are making as part of the mentoring movement.

We know that potential is evenly distributed but opportunity is not. I am confident that the work to provide opportunities for ALL kids will continue to grow until every young person who wants or needs a mentor, has access to one!

I'm not going far.... I hope that our paths will cross again! There's so much more in store for each of us. Be well!
