In the centre, Jessy Ranger, Myeloma Canada’s Communication Coordinator, with the DCC  Technology team.
Véronica Gill, followed by Jessy Ranger, François Beauchamps and Odile Desbois (Léo & Ophélie-Rose Desbois in the bike trailer).
On May 25 th , more than 130 cyclists took part in the Défi Cyclo-myélome and raised $102,417 for the Université de Montréal Myeloma Canada Chair on Multiple Myeloma at Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont.

Thank you to Francine Ducas and Maryse Bouchard , organizers of the event, for this fantastic achievement! The event not only brings together the myeloma community, the medical community and various partners, but it also raises awareness for the Research Chair. The Défi provides the perfect opportunity to shine a light on the work of many professionals who usually are behind the scenes, and to highlight the amazing work of Dr Leblanc and Dr Roy who play a crucial role in the success of the Research Chair.
We are happy to see the Research Chair grow, thanks to events like the Défi. Thanks to the Chair, promising new therapies are introduced, and our understanding of myeloma is deepened. Myeloma Canada was proud to have taken part, once again this year, in this wonderful event.

Congratulations to the team and all participants!
Great InfoSessions in Charlettown & Sydney
This past May, Myeloma Canada was thrilled to organize and participate at the Sydney (NS) and Charlottetown (PEI) InfoSessions. Both sessions were a huge success!

Thank you to David McConkey , Support Group Leader from Newfoundland, for sharing his story with the group, for exploring the benefits of joining a local support group and for discussing the importance of getting involved.
Charlottetown, PE
A special call-out also goes to Drs Kate MacInnes, Darrell White, and Nizar Abdel Samad for their time and for doing a super job in presenting Myeloma 101 and the latest advances in myeloma treatments
and research.
Linda & Brian's Special Wedding
When their dear friend Phil Harbridge was diagnosed earlier this year with multiple myeloma, Linda & Brian wondered how they could support Phil in his cancer fight. Their answer became clear when they set their wedding date. They decided that instead of gifts, they would ask their friends and family to donate to Myeloma Canada to help support myeloma research on behalf of Phil.
And to make this day even more special, they've given their friend a very important role... Rev. Dr. Phil Harbridge will be marrying Linda & Brian as well as acting as their Master of Ceremony.  Thank you, Linda & Brian, for your selflessness...we wish you all the best as you prepare for your lives together!

If you would like to make a donation in honour of Phil Harbridge and Linda & Brian's wedding, or you would like to know more about their story click here.

A 50km Challenge for Gill Compton
Gill Compton wanted to do something special for her mother who's battling the effects of myeloma. Even though her mom had great results from her stem cell transplant, day-to-day activities are still a struggle. Living in England, while her mom is in Toronto, Gill wanted to honour her mom by doing special, so she's setting out to do a 50km trek in the Peak District in England.

Gill is raising money as an honour gift for her mother's birthday and in support of her challenges with myeloma. Thank you Gill for your generosity!

Shopping at Thrifty Foods to Support Myeloma Canada
Good news for British Columbia residents! Once again, this year, Myeloma Canada will take part in the Thrifty Foods’ Smile Card fundraising program . This is a great way for you to support myeloma patients across the country without spending more. This initiative enables us to raise funds for educational resources and is valid from May 22, 2019 to April 25, 2020.

Myeloma Canada is grateful to Larry Borgerson , late leader of the Vancouver Island Multiple Myeloma Support Group for launching this initiative in British Columbia in 2018.
