Today is Protect My Public Media Day!

Celebrate and sustain Public Media TODAY on Protect My Public Media Day. Public media reaches 99% of the U.S. population and federal funding costs about $1.60 per American, per year. The funding is especially important for KGOU and other stations that serve rural areas. Congress will be making decisions that could impact the future of public media as the current continuing resolution is set to expire on March 14th. At the same time, there have been renewed calls to restrict or eliminate funding for local services in communities across the country. While only 8% of KGOU’s budget comes from federal funds, via the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, replacing those funds presents a steep challenge. Check out our FAQ’s of public media funding here.
