Message from the Principal

Dear DHS staff, students, and families,

I hope that you had a wonderful Thanksgiving break. Just prior to break, we had two incredible events that deserve recognition:

First, we celebrated the culmination of School Chest. Benefiting Gigi's Playhouse, our incredible school community raised $65,590.71

Thank you to everyone who contributed in any way possible to this wonderful organization. A special shout out and congratulations to our 2023 School Chest Co-Chairs, Gabrielle Strouse ’25 and Bianca Tilghman ’25, and all of our students and staff who helped to organize and run food sales, events, spirit wear and much more. We are so proud of you for making such a positive impact in the lives of others!

Next, we hosted our annual Grand Warriors Day. It was delightful to have the grandparents or special family or friends attend school with our seniors. Thank you to senior exec. board for organizing, PTO for providing food and refreshments, orchestra and choir for performing, and to all of our teachers, staff, students, and families who made this such a wonderful event.

Last, as we look ahead, the following are details for Final Exam Week (December 18-20). Below, you will find the final exam schedule and linked google doc with additional details about attendance, transportation and make-up periods for example.  Teachers will provide students with class specific details.

Enjoy the rest of your week!

Freshman Advisories Engage in Graduation Tracking

Graduation Tracking (formerly known as Academic Planning) will be taking place in Freshman Advisory classes on December 5 & 6. Freshmen students will learn about graduation requirements, available resources to learn about course offerings and how to keep track of their requirements. Each student will create an individualized graduation tracker that will be used throughout their high school career for registration and postsecondary planning.

DHS Athletic Booster Club - Recent Impact

On November 7th, the Booster Club approved $48,125 in funding requests on behalf of DHS Athletics and coaches. This was a historic evening as this was the largest funding request on record by the Booster Club. In addition, The Adams Field Scoreboard Truss was installed a few weeks ago which was fully funded and paid for by the Booster Club. Below are the 11 funding request items approved.

  1. Girls Cross Country/Track Tent
  2. Boys and Girls Track: Shot put area/toe boards (6) and rings (2)
  3. Boys and Girls Tennis (4) Tennis Picnic Tables
  4. Portable Wrestling Scale (Boys)
  5. Girls Gymnastics (25) Bags
  6. Deerfield Sports Information (DSI) Software
  7. Baseball (Boys) and Softball (Girls) Portable Batting Cage
  8. Warrior Dance Team: 2 Speakers for JV & Varsity (and Music)
  9. Boys Cross Country Shirts
  10. Athletics Hall of Fame entrance interior artwork

As you know, the Booster Club is dedicated to supporting our student-athletes, coaches and teams by funding items that are outside of the district’s budget. To do so, we count on membership as the largest and most important fundraiser. We hope you will consider joining this semester, even if you have a spring sport athlete, so you can enjoy your membership benefits throughout the school year. There are many membership levels to choose from with options to directly support your favorite team. And don’t forget, the Family Athletic Pass gets you and your immediate family into all regular season home girls & boys basketball games and wrestling matches for FREE.
