What training actually looks like

Proper hands-on training, real loft scenarios, support, compliance and quality standards.

Greetings!

Training is one of those words that gets thrown around a lot in franchising.

Everyone says they offer it.

But what does it actually mean?

Because there’s a big difference between “training” and sitting in a meeting room for a week watching slides until your soul starts packing a suitcase.

That’s not what we’re building at More Than Loft Ladders.

Proper hands-on training

We now have our own dedicated training centre, designed specifically for our franchise partners.

The important bit?

It includes training bays that replicate real homes and real loft scenarios.

That means you’re not just being told how something works. You’re learning it properly, in a practical environment that reflects what you’ll actually face when you’re in customers’ homes.

You’ll get hands-on experience with the things that matter:

  • loft ladders
  • loft hatches
  • boarding systems
  • lighting
  • insulation
  • access routes
  • surveying
  • practical problem-solving
  • safe working methods
  • customer expectations

Because once you’re out there representing the brand, theory is not enough.

You need to know what good looks like.

Training is not just technical

Yes, the practical skills matter.

But running a successful local franchise is not just about fitting a ladder.

You also need to understand the business side:

  • how to manage enquiries
  • how to survey properly
  • how to quote with confidence
  • how to explain options to customers
  • how to follow up without being pushy
  • how to manage your diary
  • how to protect margins
  • how to build reviews and referrals

That’s where the franchise model helps.

You’re not starting with a blank page. You’re learning the process that already works.

Support after training

Good training does not end when you leave the training centre.

That would be daft.

Your first few weeks and months are where the real learning happens, so ongoing support is built into the model.

You’ll have access to guidance, systems, templates, technical support, business reviews and people who have already seen the common mistakes before.

The aim is simple: help you start properly, build confidence quickly, and avoid expensive errors.

Compliance and doing things properly

This matters.

We work in people’s homes. We access lofts. We deal with ladders, hatches, boarding, insulation, lighting and working at height.

So standards are not optional.

Training covers the right way to work, including safety, compliance, product knowledge, customer care, process and documentation.

Not because we enjoy paperwork. Nobody sane enjoys paperwork.

But because doing things properly protects the customer, protects the franchise partner, and protects the brand.

Quality control protects everyone

A strong franchise network needs consistency.

Customers should be able to expect the same standard whether they are in Norfolk, Nottingham, Portsmouth or anywhere else in the network.

That’s why training, quality control and ongoing development matter so much.

It keeps the brand strong.

It helps franchise partners build better businesses.

And it gives customers confidence that they are dealing with a professional, trusted company.

P.S. We’ve invested in the training centre because support should be more than a phone call and a folder. If you’re going to build a proper business, you deserve proper training.
