Happy Monday, Unstoppables!
I probably should start calling this weekly blog, "Mindset Monday". Every time I sit down to relay a helpful thought or strategy, mindset pops up!
So, does the thought of getting on the scale sometimes make you turn and run the other way?
I know, the struggle is real. There's a million reasons why we avoid it and they're all normal. We're working hard at this and we want to see the scale moving! (down, of course)
Would it help to tell ourselves a NEW story ? One where we can make peace with the it, once and for all.
We know the scale is going to give us feedback, but it doesn't tell the WHOLE story. And, it's one piece of data. ONE PIECE.
Think of 3 ways you've changed and then envision future you. (before you step on the scale)
For example:
- I skipped the donuts, yay me.
- I moved my body when I didn't feel like it, yay me.
- I drank water like a boss, yay me.
Disappointed after you weigh? Repeat above ⬆ (And then get going on the week ahead. 🚂)
We aren't going to give the scale power over our thoughts or our next best move.
Friends, we're changing in big and meaningful ways. Over focusing on the number can hold us back from remembering how far we've come. It's okay if that comes in 2 steps forward and 3 steps back.
Developing a growth mindset is the real secret to long term weight loss. 🌱

Healthier cookies for Santa
On Saturday, my friend Kat and I made no-bake cookies with monkfruit (sugar substitute, zero calorie) instead of sugar. Monkfruit won't spike your blood sugar if you're living with diabetes. There are other options out there for "zero sugar", like Swerve. Healthier swaps will help lower the calories and handle sugar cravings to stay on track. 🙌
Here's the recipe: (thank you Lisa C. for sharing 😁)
No-bake cookies
2 cups of sugar OR 2/3 cup monkfruit
1/2 cup milk
1 stick of butter or margarine
4 Tbs cocoa
1/2 cup crunchy peanut butter
3 cups quick-cooking oats
1 tsp vanilla
Boil sugar, milk, margarine and cocoa for 1.5 minutes. (Start timing after mixture reaches a full, rolling boil) Remove from heat; add peanut butter, oats, vanilla. Stir until blended, then drop on waxed paper by teaspoonfuls. Place in refrigerator to hasten hardening. With monkfruit, these are 1-2 WW Points, depending on size. (with sugar, 5 pts per cookie)

If you're a regular here, thank you! I've been writing every Monday for over a year now.
Over 60% on this email list are reading it. 💖 So, I'm going to take that as a sign to keep going!
Occasionally, I share grandbaby pictures and weekend highlights. Having a weekend full of fun and adventure helps me remember my "why". Thanks for letting me share personal details.
