From Your Administrative Team
Greetings Families,

We hope that you are settling in to a restful and sun-soaked summer! Before we leave for the summer, we wanted to share some end-of-year updates!

  • Our cohorts will remain M/T and TH/F next year, and we will continue to offer a remote option for a small group of students and families who need it

  • Drop off and Pick up will no longer be staggered! Our daily schedule for ALL students will be 9:15am-3:15pm
  • Campus will be open as early as 8:55 am for breakfast services
  • We will continue to ask families to "say goodbye at the gate" during drop off. Not only will our teachers have students in front of them, but we have found that for MOST students, saying goodbye at the gate increases confidence, autonomy, and independence!
  • At pick-up, grownups will be invited to retrieve their students at their classrooms, say hello to their teacher, peak inside, and connect with other families on campus. *We ask that all families exit campus no later than 3:45pm
  • We are sad to say goodbye to Kelsey Grady and Bernadette Glenn--life is pulling them both in new and exciting directions, and we wish them the best of luck on their respective next adventures! They have both given so much to our community, and will be greatly missed!

  • We will be welcoming several new staff members to our team! Brenda will be our new Core 2 teacher, Theo will be joining the Core 5 team, and our own Savanah will be taking over in the front office! We are excited for our community to get to know these new incredible team members!

  • We have a new Independent Study teacher position starting in the Fall! This person will work closely with Theresa and classroom teachers to streamline and calibrate the learning log evaluation process for families, as well as recommend targeted curriculum resources for families, and allow classroom teachers to focus more on in-class learning and progress monitoring! We are excited to share that this position will be filled by our own Nancy Waites!

  • This does mean that we have one more middle school teacher position open, as well as our Assistant Principal position. We will work diligently to fill these positions through a rigorous interview process over the summer, and will update our community once we have more information! Feel free to send any candidates you may know directly to Kaitlin

  • In the coming days, you will receive a welcome e-mail on behalf of your child's teacher for the 2022-2023 school year! While we know that this information can feel exciting and big for families, we ask that you give your teachers the opportunity to rest this summer, and resist reaching out to them until August. Please also know that we consider multiple factors when placing students in classes, and we cannot accept specific classroom/teacher requests. Thank you for trusting us with your children and providing them exposure and access to a wide variety of exceptional teachers in our community!

Finally, our staff spent the last few days of the school year reflecting on the year together. This year was HARD. This year also brought many moments of joy. We spoke about the idea of burnout, how it feels in our bodies, and what to do about it. We re-visited a podcast with Brene Brown and the Nagoski sisters, co-authors of the book, Burnout. We invite you to give it a listen HERE, and make plans for yourself on how you can complete your own stress cycles this summer.

Wishing you a summer full of sunshine and good rest!

Love,
Kaitlin
