Budget Counselors and Counseling:
Summer is always a quiet time for formal counseling. Most all of our own counseling sessions tend to be on the move; i.e. not formal sit-down sessions. They are people who want to bounce ideas, concerns, and issues off us, either by phone or as we meet together. The same is true for our trained budget counselors in churches, or out and about living daily life in their various cities and communities.
Congregational Training and Church Stewardship Involvement:
We remain involved with a local church, where the pastor and elders recently acknowledged that their overall stewardship training could be elevated some and more intentional in formality. The elders have initiated specific Sunday morning stewardship teaching opportunities during the worship service. We have personally heard or read all the testimonies and short messages presented. We rejoice in the maturity level and biblical teaching in each of these sessions. Each one is simply teaching God's Word, while purposely not asking the congregation for increased giving.
It is interesting to hear some of the positive and negative feedback resulting from these clear and biblical teachings. It quickly illuminates the continual battle when talking about money in church. It is often God's Word contending with our, and other people's, personal opinions; something we all deal with on a continual basis. Remember, Satan does not want people to know and discover God's guidelines for gaining true financial freedom! Churches all over the world contend with these same such problems. Please pray for elders, church leaders, and pastors everywhere trying to teach the full counsel of God.
