Saying Thank You This Fall

Generosity, humility, and spreading joy are core components of Honey Helps. Fall is the perfect season to demonstrate these values and to say thank you to the schools, teams, and families who trust us with their fundraisers. This November, we're giving back.

We didn't want to give to just any cause. We wanted it to be relevant and meaningful to our business. We're thrilled to support Samaritan's Purse as they work to meet the needs of people around the world. Specifically, our gift will go toward their Beekeeping Project, which provides beekeeping equipment and training to help families begin honey businesses.

For every November fundraiser we confirm by October 30, we'll make a gift to Samaritan's Purse for this project. The gift comes from us. It doesn't come out of your fundraiser's proceeds, and your organization doesn't pay anything extra.

Samaritan's Purse runs beekeeping programs in countries around the world. In Cambodia, a couple received five hives and training. A year later, they had 17 hives, had given two to neighbors who wanted to start their own, and were selling honey to support their family. In Liberia, a man named Jusu received training and five hives. Last year he harvested seven gallons of honey, which helped him pay for his children's schooling, and now he teaches others in his village to keep bees. In both places, a few hives and some training became income for a family and a skill to share with neighbors.

Photos That Tell Your Fundraiser’s Story

People decide in a second whether to read your post or flyer, and the picture usually makes that call. The ones that work show real people and the real reason. Here are four photos worth taking:

  • The people, mid-action. A team in the middle of practice, a choir mid-song, kids at work on a project. A moment in progress feels more real than a lined-up group photo, and faces get noticed.
  • The thing the money is for. Worn-out gear, a bus that needs replacing, the field trip destination, the art supplies. If supporters can see what the money will become, it makes the goal more tangible.
  • The goal paired with the picture. Put one plain line on the photo, like "Help us buy new uniforms," so someone who only sees the image still gets the message.
  • The product in a real person's hands. A parent or player holding a jar of honey tells supporters what they're buying and whom they're helping, better than a product photo alone.

A few easy habits: use a phone camera in natural light, keep to one clear subject, and take a handful of photos at every practice or rehearsal so you have a stack to post from.

Once you have a scheduled sale date, Jessica from the Marketing department (social@honeyhelps.com) can help you turn your photos into a flyer or social graphic, using our existing templates or a new one made just for your fundraiser.

Queen City Buzz: The Results Are In

Last month, we followed Queen City Buzz as they chased a massive fundraising goal. They raised $15,239.20!

While they didn't hit their initial goal, this was still a great success for the team. Some highlights from the campaign include:

  • 84% participation
  • The average participant brought in over $115 in sales!
  • More than $1,200 in direct donations from supporters

We are excited to see how Queen City Buzz builds on this momentum next year. Some things we would like to try with them include a shortened time frame to increase purchase urgency, a friendly nudge for participants who've only made a single sale to help them get to five, and more photo sharing along the way.

Thank you to the players, families, and coaches who put their time into it!
