"END OF OAK STREET"
Filmed in Former Home of
BTE @ UGA Founder Larry Calhoun
Atlanta-There’s no place like home, especially if famed producer J.J. Abrams of “Lost” and “Star Trek” and crew use it for “End of Oak Street,” the film to be released Friday, August 14th starring Anne Hathaway (Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey with Matt Damon) and Ewan McGregor (Star Wars Prequel Trilogy)!
During his teen years, before attending Morehouse College and the University of Georgia, Black Theatrical Ensemble founder Larry Calhoun lived in the house that is the home for the suburban family that wakes up to find dinosaurs roaming the Southwest Atlanta neighborhood that mirrors a Michigan neighborhood in the 1980s.
“Charlayne Hunter-Gault's family lived across the street,” said Morehouse College graduate Larry Calhoun, who founded BTE while a graduate student at the University of Georgia in 1976. Calhoun’s neighbor Charlayne Hunter-Gault, who became a famed Journalist (The New York Times, PBS, NPR and CNN), along with Hamilton Holmes, who became a renowned surgeon, desegregated the University of Georgia in 1961.
There will be a special screening on Friday to include the current and former homeowners of the “End of Oak Street” home, neighbors and friends.
