STAFF SPEAKING
Here is a note from the CEO, Christie Ray:
"The definition of advocacy is "the act of pleading for, supporting, or recommending". The Prince George Chamber of Commerce advocates on behalf of members to all three levels of government - the City, the Province and the Federal Government.
We do this through a working committee of members, that together determines positions and actions required. We are actively looking to add members to this committee. We would also like to get an update on current issues members are facing...what needs to be addressed?
I personally invite you to attend an Advocacy Roundtable Event, Friday April 8th 1:00pm in the Chamber Boardroom. No commitment required, beyond sharing business problems and issues that could potentially be addressed by the Chamber. Any questions, don't hesitate to call or email ceo@pgchamber.bc.ca. Hope to see you April 8th."

2015 BEA WINNER PROFILE
MICRO BUSINESS OF THE YEAR - LIVE WORK COMMUNICATIONS
We took a moment to chat with Mick Harper, Partner and Creative Director of Live Work Communications, last year's Micro Business of the Year award winner.
How did it feel to find out you won a BEA award and to walk across the stage at the gala event?
It was somewhat intimidating to be up on stage in front of nearly 400 people in giving the acceptance speech. But it was encouraging all the same to be counted among some other inspiring businesses in our community. It's moments like that where you find the courage to rise to the occasion, just like you do when faced with new challenges in business.
In what ways has winning the award affected the work you do? Did winning leave an impression or make an impact somehow?
Being recognized with an award from our peers at the Chamber is a great show of support for the work that we are doing, and it is encouragement for us to keep moving forward. Our motivation stems from our passion for what we do, fostering relationships, creating communities and helping our clients.
As a successful business person, do you have any advice you'd like to share with others striving for excellence?
The measure of success is different for every business and person. Advice we would give is to keep reaching back out to the community and connecting. Not just for clients but also for support for you as a business person. Winning an award like this should not be the destination for being a businessperson in Prince George, but a continuum of constantly staying in touch with our customers and community. Although it is great to celebrate a success like this award, I think it is important to stay grounded in knowing that these awards are only a piece of the bigger picture of "success".
