BBCS Leader Spotlight!

Bridge Boston is thrilled to introduce you to some of the new and familiar faces who are leading some exciting work in our community this year!

Orin Gutlerner is leading our instructional team this year as Bridge Boston's new Chief Academic Officer (CAO).

Mr. G has lived in Boston for the past 20 years and in Dorchester specifically for the past 13. As he puts it, Mr. G grew up in a "family of teachers," and has over 20 years of experience teaching and coaching teachers. He comes to Bridge most recently from Massachusetts General Hospital, where he researched and implemented evidence based mental health practices in Boston schools and non-profits.

Mr. G is passionate about educating the educators at Bridge Boston. To him, "the first pillar of an academic program is the adults having a really clear vision for what excellent instruction looks like and how learning feels for both teacher and student at any given moment." In his first few weeks on the job, Mr. G has been struck by the unity of Bridge teachers in doing whatever it takes to put students first and meet their specific needs. He is excited to work alongside Bridge teachers this year to create the highest quality lessons and supports for your children each day.

Have questions for Mr. G? Send him an email at ogutlerner@bridgebostoncs.org

Evelyn Correa-Gonzalez has joined our team as the Director of Family Engagement, taking over for Sila Rosario in a new, more concentrated role this year.

Originally born in Puerto Rico, Ms. Correa has lived in Boston for the past 33 years. She comes to us highly recommended from Boston Public Schools, and has over fifteen years of experience engaging with and supporting families in the school communities she has been a part of.

Ms. Correa was originally drawn to Bridge by the resources and opportunities that our community is able to provide to our students and families. Our full-service kitchen, volunteer library, and music program were just a few of the elements that makes Bridge special in Evelyn's eyes.

Ms. Correa is looking forward to being in a welcoming, close-knit school community where she can build relationships with students and families. She is a listening ear and supportive resource for all families at Bridge, and wants parents to know that they can come to her with anything they may need!

To hear more about Ms. Correa and her family engagement work at Bridge Boston, RSVP for our Parent Town Hall on 9/30.

COVID Updates & Resources

Bridge Boston cares deeply about the safety and well-being of our community. We recognize that COVID continues to challenge us to remain vigilant and connected, especially with the Delta variant roaring through communities across Boston, the country, and the globe. Health and safety guidelines continue to change by the day as scientists, doctors, and researchers learn more about COVID transmission.

The good news is, much of the most current guidance has been successfully implemented at Bridge Boston over the past school year. Take a look at our COVID Video Series for reminders of the many precautions that Bridge has taken to keep our community safe!

Student and staff safety & well-being will continue to serve as a top priority as we look ahead. For the latest updates on COVID safety in our community, head to the COVID Dashboard, updated weekly on our website.
