A Message from the Headmaster

The Transcendental Report

Truth

Today Cleopatra led our morning pledges. Our campus was also graced by a hoard of Vikings, the inhabitants of the Hundred Acre Wood, and numerous other heroes from ages past as well as the world of fiction. Although it may seem paradoxical to write about the world of fiction in the section titled “Truth,” I would argue that it does not (at least when the literature is of sufficient quality). Human beings, in all times and places, have used stories to frame their understanding of reality. For children, this is essential. This week’s great example of truth comes in the form of the wonderful characters that we celebrated on our Literary and Historical Figure day. Each has a story to tell, a story that has helped a child more fully understand the world he or she lives in.

Goodness

I love when a child gets excited about another child’s success. This is a fairly common occurrence, but it always warms my heart. Whether it is applauding a friend who performed a poem well, or identifying a good play on the basketball court, we see it daily. The fact that we see it daily is actually a remarkable thing when you consider human development and where these children are on the path. It is not really a natural thing, especially in the younger grades. When children see the humanity in others, they are developing their moral selves. This is one reason this job is so great, I get to see this every single day!

Beauty

What is more beautiful than a great poem? Today we had the first round of our Bard competition and the following students have advanced to the finals:

Emily M.      Mercedes S.       Ethan B.

Reagan H.   Nadia A.            Caroline J.

Braylen M.    Abigail F.            Myra G.

Manny U.     Kiara Z.             Serra S.

Heartily devoted,

Clay Scott, Ed.D.

Communication Updates

Latest News image.png

School Messenger Communication

Great Hearts and Archway Trivium continue to utilize the system School Messenger for emails, robo-calls, and text messaging to inform families of campus related academy emergencies and other communications. SchoolMessenger has a new automatic opt-in for text feature. During the registration/re-enrollment process families confirmed their wish to participate in text communications. Great Hearts will now automatically opt in contact information given during the registration/re-enrollment process with the options you selected. You will notice at the beginning of July you will be opted in for text messaging. If you would like to opt out of text messages simply reply STOP to the text from 67585. You can also enter the code 67585 with the message STOP to block any text messaging. Please note, if opting out, you will not receive texts regarding emergencies on campus.

Email Communications

If you know of parents who are not receiving these communications, please ask them to check their junk/promotions email folders, and then email bmcdonald@archwaytrivium.org for assistance.

You can also find ALL school-wide communications on our website on the Latest News page.
