Return to CGS this Sunday!
January 10, 2025
Dear Trinity,
If you have been watching the news recently, you are likely aware of the massive wildfires that have erupted in LA. Many of our loved ones have been deeply affected. My heart goes out to all who are distressed or displaced by these fires and I pray for a swift recovery. If you are looking for a way to help support victims of the fires, I encourage you to join me in making a donation to the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles' One Body & One Spirit Appeal Fund which is currently channeling all incoming donations towards fire relief for those most affected.
This upcoming Sunday, we return to Catechesis of the Good Shepherd in all three Atria! It has been a wonderful time away over the holidays and has given all the catechists and I some much appreciated reprieve. But, the Atria are starting to feel a little TOO quiet in my opinion and so I'm looking forward to having so many little ones return this Sunday! The Atria will open at 9am as per usual and we will all return to the main service together in time for Eucharist. Nursery care will continue at 9am as per usual as well.
This week, we continue with the liturgical color of white for the ongoing celebration of Christmas and Epiphany. If you have a moment, please join me in a brief prayer for this strange time we find ourselves in:
O God of all comfort, meet us in our mingling of sorrow and celebration. Of joy turned into shock and disaster. We remember your flight to Egypt. You were no stranger to the chaos of our world which also hit your life shortly after the first Christmas. Shelter and deliver all those impacted by the wildfires. Empower us to be your hands and feet in the world. Hold our righteous rage which burns against those who grow rich off fossil fuels while Eden burns. Show us the path through the fires of climate chaos and into deep reciprocity with creation. Grow a new love of neighbor, stranger, and enemy alike from the ashes of our hearts.
Amen.
