Leaders and residents from the Town of Sunnyvale joined representatives from Tom Thumb, Salser Development and Spring Valley Construction Thursday afternoon to break ground on Sunnyvale’s first major grocery store.

See the video recap from this week's groundbreaking.

The new Tom Thumb store will anchor an upscale retail center on Belt Line Road near Town East Boulevard and is expected to open by the end of 2025. The 59,000 square foot store will be fully stocked with the fresh departments Tom Thumb customers know and love including Bakery, Deli, Meat & Seafood, Produce and Floral. It will also include an in-store Starbucks coffee kiosk, a Pharmacy drive-thru and Drive-Up-N-Go™ grocery pick-up.

“The Town of Sunnyvale is thrilled to provide our residents with this investment and add to our great quality of life,” said Mayor Saji George, who also serves as the Chair of the Town’s 4B Economic Development Corporation. “Our residents have wanted this amenity for many years, and we’re excited about how this development will bring our community together.”

Tuesday, Dec. 3 | 6 - 7:30 p.m. | Sunnyvale Town Hall

Please provide your input as the Town of Sunnyvale develops plans for improvements at Jobson and Samuell Farm North Parks.

The Town will host a public input meeting at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 3 at Sunnyvale Town Hall, 127 N. Collins Road. During the meeting, you can learn more about recommendations for these two parks made as part of the 2021 Parks Master Plan and recent public surveys that were completed this summer. Proposed concept plans will be presented, and we would really like your insights for future park development.

Additional sports fields, playgrounds, and trails could be options for future improvements. Watch for additional public input opportunities in January, which will result in a final plan. Construction is expected to begin in mid-to-late 2025.

Kodak is a 2-year-old German Shepherd mix. He came to the Sunnyvale Animal Shelter more than a year ago with a severe tail injury. He is a gentle soul who needs a loving, patient home. Kodak will be a loyal companion who is always ready to face the world with you, one paw at a time.

If your family is ready to add a member, we currently have many adoptable animals in our shelter looking for a new place to call home. Learn more by visiting our Petfinder page or calling (214) 862-4525.
