On February 18-20, I was asked to speak at the Western Ukrainian Evangelical Baptist Convention student conference FEARLESS. It was a joy to be gathered with these dear brothers and sisters again. The conference was fruitful.

Approximately 250 teens and young adults were in attendance. There were about 50 students who responded publicly during the Sunday morning altar call. 12 of those were salvation decisions. The others were decisions of repentance and renewed commitment to Christ. The invitation time continued for 35 minutes as a steady stream of people came to the altar, humble, broken, and seeking the Lord. It was a beautiful moment.

I was grateful to share the preaching responsibilities with Dr. Leighton Flowers as we each took two sessions over the weekend. Thank you for your prayers and please continue to pray for Ukraine.

New Board Member
The rotation of board members on a regular cycle is a healthy and necessary system of accountability for our ministry, but it is filled with a mix of emotions. Bringing a new board member on the board usually means one is rotating off. That is the case this year. We want to say a BIG THANK YOU to Tim Porter who has served faithfully on our ministry board since 2012. Tim has been a member of the Men of Simplicity (MOS) since its inception in the Fall of 2009 and has been a small group discussion leader for 8-14 men for several years. We are so grateful for the friendship, encouragement, prayers, and leadership Tim has given us. Tim will continue participating and leading in MOS, so he’ll still be around! He and his wife, Debbie, have been close family friends for many years.

We would like to welcome back to the Simplicity Ministries’® board of directors, Dr. Stan Albright. We are grateful to have Stan serving with us again. Stan is currently the Director of Missions at Coosa River Baptist Association in Talladega, AL having begun his work there in June of 2020. Stan served previously as Pastor of First Baptist Church Oxford, Alabama (2014-2020), the National Director of Associations with the North American Mission Board (2011-2014), the State Director of Missions for the Baptist Convention of New Mexico (2006-2011), and was the Assoc. Executive Director of the Northwest Baptist Convention (2001-2006). Stan and his wife, Joanie, have been friends and partners with our ministry for many years.

Our ministry board is currently chaired by Robert Sherwood. The treasurer of the board is Jay Hill. You can read more about these men on our website. We are grateful for all of these faithful godly servants!
Boys Discipleship
Boys to young men who live simply and purely devoted to Christ: that has been the goal of my weekly discipleship group with 7th-9th grade boys. Over the past 10 weeks we have studied 1 Cor. 5:9-21 to learn four key characteristics of an Ambassador for Christ. These are a few of the marks of biblical manhood!

Ambition: to please Christ always.

Motivation: to live controlled & compelled by Christ’s love for all people

Purpose: to no longer live for oneself, but for Christ who died and rose

Ministry:  to fulfill the service of reconciliation of the lost to God in Christ through words and actions
Men of Simplicity
Men of Simplicity: a brotherhood of men learning to live simply and purely devoted to Christ. Men, join us this fall! Let’s make plans now!

On April 22, I had the opportunity to travel to Spokane, WA to be in person with the Men of Simplicity (MOS) at North Addison Baptist Church. From there, via Zoom, I led the other church groups from across the NW (we have 8 groups / 78 men). It was a great time of fellowship with these men. This was the first time Spokane MOS was able to be back in person. In January, we continued our focus on evangelism training, beginning a 5 month study on apologetics. The men have grown, and we are hearing from them that they are engaging more with the lost in gospel conversations!
In Memory
Edris Edwards, 79, of Lubbock, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, March 28, 2022. She was a long-time friend of Simplicity Ministries.® A gift was given to our ministry in her memory. We are grateful for partners like Edris. She will be missed.
