October 14 - BINGO for the Blind

The SAL will be hosting Veterans from Hines VA Hospital Blind Center on October 14.

We will be serving the veterans dinner followed by several rounds of BINGO. This is a tremendous opportunity to volunteer and help serve the dinner and help a blind veteran win a game of BINGO. 

Watch for the sign-up list email to participate.

Veteran's Movie Night

Monday, October 28th

Food, drinks and fellowship starting at 5pm.

The movie begins at 6:30pm.

It's All Free!

All Veterans are invited.

Legion member or not.

Bring a guest veteran with you.

Each Veteran attending will receive a free pair of dog tags.

October is here and we are excited for a busy fall. Bingo is back and we had a good crowd on the first night.

We have some great committee openings including, Education, Children and Youth, Girls State, plus others.

If you have not picked up your pay day raffle tickets, you can get them at the October 10th meeting or contact Erica. We need more sellers.

Annual dues letter have been mailed for a renewal of only $35 for the year. You can mail your check or go to the Auxiliary website and pay on-line You you are thinking of becoming a member, click on the link. Join

Co-Presidents Unit 690 Auxiliary

October 19 - The Auxiliary is leading a trip to Hines VA Hospital Extended Care facility.



We will assemble and distribute gift bags to veterans in the Extended Care facility and host BINGO in their recreation room.

This is another opportunity to participate in a very rewarding experience by helping provide a fun afternoon of BINGO to veterans who are staying at the VA hospital for an extended period.

Only 500 tickets are sold and if you win, your name goes back in for another chance.

Veterans sponsored Tax-Deductible 501(c)(3) Contributions

American Legion Veterans of Post 690 is operational as a public charity. It is qualified to receive your contributions, tax deductible bequests, devises, transfers or gifts. The entity is a Section 501(c)3 nonprofit and your gift may qualify as a charitable deduction for federal income tax purposes.

You may mail your contribution to American Legion Veterans of Post 690, 122 W Palatine Road, Palatine, IL 60067 or give it to a bartender in the Clubroom, along with instructions on the envelope stating that it is to be placed in the mail slot of the above. You will receive a thank you letter acknowledging your donation.

Come to the Post on October 13th to celebrate the Navy birthday. Short ceremony at 7pm with cake served.

The Sons of The American Legion was created in 1932 as an organization within The American Legion. The SAL is made up of boys and men of all ages whose parents or grandparents served in the United States military and became eligible for membership in The American Legion. 

The SAL at Post 690 has many programs that give back to the community. The SAL sponsors Veterans from the Blind Center at Hines Hospital.

In December. the SAL sponsors a breakfast with Santa.

If you are looking for a great place to donate some time in the local community, the SAL is for you.

Downtown Palatine Trick or Treat at the Legion.



The Downtown Palatine Business Association is once again hosting Trick or Treating in Downtown Palatine on October 26th between 10:00 and 2:00 pm.

Stop by the Post to get your candy and meet a Veteran.

The Post is once again taking donations for your engraved brick, in front of the American Legion.

Deadline is October 10th.

Dedicate a brick to yourself, family or a friend and we part of Post 690. If you have not visited the Post to see the project, we encourage you to stop by.
