November’s Training will be held virtually on two consecutive Saturday’s November 5th and 12th from 9:00am – 12:00pm (must attend both sessions). Please see below for training title, description and link to register. There are unlimited spots for this training. For those in Licensed Programs this training will give you 6 STARS hours.
FLIP IT!:
FLIP IT! is a four-step supportive strategy to help young children learn about their feelings, gain self-control, and reduce challenging behavior. Flip It teaches adults how to respond positively to everyday challenges and challenging behaviors in children ages 3 to 8.
2.) ALERT from Washington Federation of Independent Schools: Registered sex offender making visits to preschools in our area
Seattle Police and Lake Stevens Police departments have open cases regarding a registered sex offender who enters church buildings and asks to see the preschool or education area, even if it is not open. They present themselves as interested in having their student attend - and ask to take photographs of the space. They have been to a variety of churches in these regions. It is unclear what their intent is, but all are encouraged to give no visitor access to areas where children might be - even if the children are not present at the time. The police departments have requested to immediately call 911 if such persons come onto campus. Please review the Lake Stevens alert HERE which includes images of the vehicle and suspect.
Do NOT post this on social media as the investigation is ongoing.
While hospitality to the stranger is what we are called to do, this serves as a reminder to train staff and volunteers to also be mindful and vigilant as we protect those who are vulnerable in our communities.
3.) Task Force for Early Learning Professional Development Day
We are just a few months away from our third annual Virtual Early Learning Professional Development Day on Friday, February 10th from 8:30am – 3:30pm. I look forward to putting together a great list of sessions and trainers that will be focusing on Early Learning topics. Please let me know if you would like to be on the Task Force that will put together the sessions for the day. The time commitment would be a one hour long meeting in November and a one hour long meeting in December. I look forward in upcoming weeks and months to send you more details about sessions and registration information. Looking forward to a great day of learning!
