COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
Are Pests Bugging You?
Integrated Pest Management (IPM)  offers effective techniques and less-toxic products for controlling common pests. IPM is a method of controlling indoor and outdoor pests using the least toxic methods available through a combination of mechanical, biological and chemical controls.

Check these  Pest Control Fact Sheets  for solutions to your pest problems. Most  local hardware stores and nurseries  carry less-toxic products.  Click here  for a printable list of participating stores, and  Less-Toxic Product List  for a list of less toxic pest control products.

If you are thinking about hiring someone to maintain your lawn and garden, check out the  Santa Clara Valley Green Gardener  page. These landscape professionals have been trained on sustainable landscape practices and will maintain your garden without the use of toxic chemicals. When hiring a professional pest control service, consider hiring an IPM Certified pest control company.  IPM Certified practitioners  can effectively manage ants, roaches, flies, spiders, rodents, stinging insects, bed bugs and many other pests with practical, less-toxic techniques that minimize pesticides.
Plan Bay Area 2050 Draft Blueprint
The Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) and the Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG) are inviting the Bay Area public to provide input on the newly released  Plan Bay Area 2050 Draft Blueprint , a 30-year regional vision that seeks to create a more affordable, connected, diverse, healthy and vibrant Bay Area for all. The Draft Blueprint is being released today for a public comment period that will run through August 10, 2020.

COMING TOGETHER
Community Services Agency Fundraiser: Virtual Wine Tasting
Have you enjoyed drinking wine during the quarantine? Have you wanted to make a positive impact on your community? Well, now you can combine the two! Join CSA's Young Professionals group on  Friday, August 7th, from 4:30 to 6:00PM , for a cause that benefits our community, all while learning more about wine.

This year, we are partnering with  Hook and Ladder Winery  to bring you a fabulous wine tasting event that you can enjoy from the comfort of your home. The tasting will feature three of their estate wines which can be purchased before the event and shipped to your door. Whether you feel you don't know much about wine or you're a pro - the winery will cover the basics and also go deep into the tasting notes for those more experienced. You'll also have an opportunity to meet some of the CSA team working on the front lines and learn more about how CSA's Young Professionals group is making a difference in the community.

For purchases made before the event, Hook and Ladder is generously donating 50% of all proceeds from sales of these featured wines. Not only that, they are offering a shipping discount using the code  CSACARES  at check-out. All three wines will be featured in the event, and there is no minimum purchase. That being said, good wine and 50% being donated back to CSA should be ample reasons to buy more.

Here's how to participate:
Register for a  free ticket here  to get access to the online event and receive event updates.
Go to this special  Hook and Ladder CSA link   to order your wine. Please order by August 4th to allow time for shipping, and make sure to use the special promo code  CSACARES  at checkout for a shipping discount.
Share this event with any wine-loving friends who would be interested in helping those in need in our community. You don't have to be a Young Professional to participate. For more information, please contact  CSAYP@googlegroups.com .  We look forward to seeing you on August 7th!

P.S.   Even if you can't attend the virtual tasting, you can still purchase wine to support CSA or donate directly to the cause by  clicking here .
