Choir Concert

7:00 PM

| |
On Friday, March 13th, the Grand View University Choir will perform here at Lake of the Isles Lutheran as part of their 2026 Spring Tour. Grand View University is located in Des Moines, Iowa and is one of the smaller colleges associated with the ELCA. The university’s roots are Danish.
Under the direction of Dr. Joshua Boggs and accompanied by Rachel Cohen on piano, 31 talented musicians will present a program that explores how love sustains us through life's seasons of building, loss, reflection, and renewal. The one-hour long concert is free and open to the public. Please join us in welcoming the Grand View University Choir as they begin their tour of the Upper Midwest.
| Music for Holy Week at LOTI | We are thankful for the financial gifts directed to Lake of the Isles in memory of Rob Bergford. He was a dedicated church organ tuner and passionate about good music performed in worship. In honor of his musical passion, Rob’s father, John Bergford, a long time member of Lake of the Isles, has chosen to dedicate these memorial gifts to support our musical programming for Holy Week. We are grateful for the Bergford family’s gift in memory of Rob. | On Palm Sunday, March 29th, Dr. Kristina Rizzotto, guest musicians and the LOTI Church Choir will perform Dietrich Buxtehude’s Jesu. Meine Freude. Although this setting is less known than J. S. Bach’s version, Buxtehude carefully weaves the familiar melody and text through variations alternating between the choir and soloist. The choir will also perform Faure’s The Palms. | On Good Friday, April 3rd, at 3:00 in the afternoon, the traditional hour commemorated as Jesus’ death on the cross, the women’s voices of Hymnus Angelicus, under the direction of Paul Mckenzie, will offer a choral remembrance of Jesus’ crucifixion. Music often conveys the emotion, pain and mystery of the events that words alone cannot describe. This musical service following the Seven Last Words of Christ will surely inspire you with wonder of God’s love. | Join us on Holy Week for these two special musical worship services. Then join us again on Easter Sunday, April 5th at 9:30 and 11:00 for the celebration of Christ’s resurrection. The music of the organ, choir, trumpet and timpani will fill the church with triumphant sound. | | |

Saint Patrick's Day Worship
Sunday, March 15th
9:30 AM
Sanctuary
Many Roman Catholic and Protestant churches celebrate the life of St. Patrick as a missionary to Ireland. At sixteen, Patrick was kidnapped by Irish pirates and sold into slavery in Ireland. He himself admitted that up to this point he cared little for God. He escaped after six years, returned to his family in southwest Britain, and began to prepare for ordained ministry. He later returned to Ireland, this time to serve as bishop and missionary. He made his base in the north of Ireland and from there made many missionary journeys with much success.
| |
We will celebrate the missionary life of St. Patrick in our morning worship service on Sunday, March 15th. Irish music will be performed by Tom Klein, a master uilleann piper. The uilleann pipes are a unique Irish bagpipe. Instead of standing and playing, performers sit and pump a bellow with their elbow. He will perform for the Sunday School as well.

It was a festive day as pilgrims from all around the Mediterranean Sea gathered to celebrate the week of Passover.
Our Palm Sunday Service at Lake of the Isles will be a festive day as well. The Sunday School children will process with their palms.
