Mattress Fundraiser This Saturday April 30
This ONE DAY sale, held right here in the BHS gym this Saturday, April 30 from 10 am - 5 pm, features top brand mattresses, pillows, sheets and more. The prices are well below retail because they order directly from the manufacturer, there is no retail space overhead, and advertising expenses are minimal. Plus, they deliver!
If you are buying through a BPA student, make sure they get credit for the sale by providing their name at the sale. For mattresses, each student get $50.00. (If you have more than one student in the BPA program, this amount would be split.)
If you are not in the market for any of these items, you can still help by supporting us in these ways too:
-
Click on the Facebook event link - https://bit.ly/Beds4Ballard22
- Indicate that you're going to the event - we earn extra $$ through the fundraising company if we get over 250 people to join!
- Invite all of your friends so they can help us hit our goal!
- Share on your newsfeed and ask people to do the same!
If you'd like more information about the event, watch this short video to see what it's all about! Or contact Kris Bulson at bpabfundraising@gmail.com.

University Kiwanis Pitzer/Weeks Vocal Scholarship
This is the 44th year that the University Kiwanis Club will offer a voice scholarship in honor of Carl Pitzer and Norman Weeks. Originally they gave the scholarship to only graduating seniors, but they now accept applications from all students currently in high school, including those graduating in June of 2022. The scholarship rules provide that a scholarship of $2,500 may be offered each year to the most deserving vocal student, to use for voice lessons. This year they will also offer $1,000 prizes to the 2nd and 3rd runners-up.
Each applicant must participate in a concert on the afternoon of May 28, 2022. (Please note that day is part of Memorial Day weekend.) Each singer will sing two songs (one classical and one standard or from the musical theatre repertoire) for the audition committee and audience. (An accompanist will be provided.) Applicants must also submit a complete set of papers detailing their background.
All applications must be postmarked by May 10, 2022. See Ms. Rowley for an application if you're interested or click here.

Coffee Sales
Online from April 18-29.
This is the second and final week for this student fundraiser. Your student can earn money for fees, camps and trips.
What could be easier than selling delicious locally roasted coffee to friends and family in and around Seattle? People love the micro-local vibe, the way they can support both a local business AND a student in the Ballard Performing Arts program, and they love the custom Ballard label on each bag.
- Use the link below on SchoolPay to order your favorite coffee.
- Share this link with friends, family, and neighbors and include your own special touch to generate sales.
- Anyone can be a "guest" for this purchase and no SchoolPay account is required to order.
- There is a space on the form to add your student's name (for credit). If that space is left blank, the credit will go to the general BPA program.
Coffee is $14 per bag with a custom BPA branded label
The student named will earn $6 that can be used toward yearly program and class fees, camps, and trips. Proceeds with no student named will go into the BPA general fund.

GIVE BIG May 3-4
Give Big is right around the corner and we need your help to raise $6,500. You–parents and community supporters–are what make the music possibly. Literally. With your help, we purchase music, hire coaches, and provide the foundation for our fantastic arts programs. There are two ways to donate… through our website or directly through our GiveBig link: https://www.wagives.org/story/Bpa2022.
This is what we're raising money for:
Specialists, Clinicians and Coaches: Our fantastic directors bring in clinicians and specialists to work closely with the student groups to hone their skills and understand music more deeply. Specialists and coaching make up more than half of the Ballard Performing Arts Booster Club budget.
Scholarships: A goal of our booster club is to make performing arts available to every student who wants to participate. Many students in the program—and students who want to participate in the program—don’t have funds to pay for fees or trips. We want these programs to be an equitable, enriching, and safe place for all kids to express themselves and grow. That is why our scholarships are so valuable to our booster program.
Livestreaming: The plus side of being forced to livestream concerts is that families can enjoy them from anywhere and share with others—and we have an archive of our performances. This livestreaming technology requires additional A/V skills and techniques. It’s a whole new line item in our budget!
Don’t forget about corporate matching!! Most major companies will match your donations. Talk with your HR department for directions for how to submit for matching.
