Hello to all our Friends & Family,
The Hillel Ottawa team is back from our summer season and ready to kick off the school year with a bang! My name is Ella Saltsman, and I am one of the student executives at Hillel Ottawa. Each month, I will personally be delivering our newsletter, which will give you a recap and rundown of what happened and what to expect next. Consider me your personal guide on how to stay in the know! I hope you're as excited as I am for the year ahead.

Summer Sunnies - A Recap
This summer was an amazing time of ongoing adventures and events that drew huge turnouts. We would like to thank all returning students and community members who came to beat the summer heat with us.

Jews n' Canoes is an annual Hillel summer event. The turnout this time did not disappoint! A relaxing and fun time out on the water is just what anyone needs to kick off their summer the right way.
I totally recommend attending next summer if you're in Ottawa!
| | We traded the usual summer hangout for something a little more adventurous. We took students to Altitude Rock Climbing Gym to challenge themselves to reach new heights. It was a great opportunity to connect with other Jewish students, get active and have fun together! | | |
This summer, Hillel organized a Women's Only Pilates Class, and what a workout it was! With free Pilates socks and smoothies included, these women pushed themselves like no one else.
If you're in the mood for a Girl's Day, I suggest you look out for the next time we go!
| | In addition to all of our fun in the sun activites, Hillel Ottawa's Springboard Fellow, Alexa Barett-Taller, has been hard at work with ongoing activism for Jewish students on campus. She has been boldly standing up for those who feel voiceless about their experiences with antisemitism at school. Alexa has been doing it all by using her voice to share our stories, and speak up about our concerns. As we move into this new school year, Alexa and the rest of the Hillel team are commited to making each campus feel safe and welcoming to all new and returning students. | | |
New Students - What's New to You!
So we had a great summer, but what about the upcoming school year? Moving into September means starting the Fall Semester at full speed ahead! On behalf of Hillel Ottawa's staff and student executives, I would like to personally welcome all our new students to their first year of university. It's time to make some amazing memories, people! Here at Hillel, we'd love to be a part of that journey.

Returning to Campus - What's Up with Hillel?
This year Hillel Ottawa is getting ready to deliver some fantastic events! From First Year programming to Grad events, keep your eyes peeled for our recurring favourites and some new specials.
This month the Hillel calendar is full of our familiar kick-off events, including our Welcome Back Pizza Party on September 16th, Bagel Brunches on both Carleton and uOttawa's campuses, and even some events in the sukkah for Sukkot! Come say hi from time to time, and drop in or sign up for some unforgettable experiences. Plus there's always plenty of food to be had!

This year, Hillel is happy to share that our executive board is "For the Students By the Students". Expect to spot student executives at any and all Hillel events; don't be intimidated to come say hi! We're here to help out and chat in peer-to-peer-led discussions. As you get to know our names and faces, keep in mind that we're here to have your voice heard! Have an event request or suggestion? Share it with us! If you have questions or need campus help, we've got you! Our board is composed of kind students from uOttawa, Carleton, and Algonquin, ranging from 2nd years to Grad Student leaders. We're all passionate about improving your experience on campus. You can usually spot us by an identifying Hillel logo, or we'll approach you first! We don't bite!
