Nominations Open for Community

Leadership Awards

Nominations are open for the Jewish Federation of Greater Houston’s 2026 Community Leadership Awards! This is your opportunity to recognize leaders who have made an impact in our community. Nominations are open now through Tuesday, June 9, and recipients will be honored at the Federation’s Community Leadership Awards Night this fall. Learn more and nominate now for the Hans Mayer Jewish Communal Professional Award, Barbara and Harold Falik Young Leadership Award, and Ben Susholtz Young Leadership Award.



Advocating for Community Security

Our Public Affairs had a busy and productive two days in Washington D.C. last week! Houston Jewish community members, rabbis, and staff from local institutions met with many representatives' offices. We asked our Members of Congress to increase funding for the Nonprofit Security Grant Program to $1 billion, co-sponsor the Jewish American Security Act; and co-sponsor the Safeguarding Access to Congregations & Religious Establishments from Disruption (SACRED) Act. 

And YOU can help, too: The newly introduced bipartisan Jewish American Security Act would strengthen protections for Jewish communities through increased security funding, stronger student protections, and new tools to combat antisemitism. Please take one minute to urge your Members of Congress to cosponsor this critical legislation. Take action here!  

Impact Moment: JDC Visit



We recently welcomed our longstanding global Federation partner JDC to Houston. JDC is the leading global Jewish humanitarian organization, operating in 70 countries around the world. JDC Israel’s Executive Director Brigadier General (Res.) Hadas Minka-Brand, Ph.D. spent an evening with some of our most generous donors and shared insights on Israel’s urgent needs and long-term recovery. Last year we supported JDC with $495,000 from our Annual Campaign, including designated support for JDC Ukraine. JDC was also a key partner in our emergency efforts in Israel since October 7 and through our Rebuild Israel Fund, we provided $1,750,000 in grants.

YAD Highlights 



The Minnette and Jerome Robinson Young Adult Division (YAD) has had a busy season full of events, networking, and connections. YAD also recently celebrated the completion of its 7th FedU cohort, an introductory leadership program designed to equip Jewish young adults with the skills and knowledge to grow as future community leaders. Learn more about YAD here.
