Advocates in Action

VBCF advocates and staff met with Congressman Ben Cline (VA-6th) on August 25th in Roanoke. As a result, he agreed to co-sponsor H.R. 2048, the Metastatic Breast Cancer Access to Care Act. This bill will help patients living with metastatic breast cancer access critical health care by eliminating the arbitrary and lengthy waiting periods to receive Medicare (24 months) and Social Security Disability Insurance benefits (5 months). We appreciate Congressman Cline's leadership! Currently, four of Virginia's Representatives have supported this important bill: Rep Cline (VA-6), Rep. McClellan, (VA-4), Rep. Subramanyam (VA-10), and Rep. Vindman (VA-7). VBCF will continue our work to gain sponsorship from our entire delegation.
